MikroSwitch
I've decided to work on a set of MikroAMP skins.
The theme is switches, hence MikroSwitch, obvious really even for you plebs ;) Now I have two questions: 1) Can someone remind me of the Micro symbol? as in Microamps, Micrometers, I'm sure there is a 'mathematical' symbol for it, but I've gone blank (for a change) 2) I'm crappy when it comes to graphics. I do have Photoshop 6 though, go figure :D I want to create some circular, three dimensional "dials" I'm not sure what colour, I'm thinking kind of black plastic effect dials. Perhaps like the volume knob on my car stereo (which is equally cryptic for you). Question is, can you give me some tips on how to create that effect? Sort of grainy plastic, with a raised/sunken set of glyphs on it, and a grove for the 'backlight' for in the car? But only in 32 pixels, hehe small challenge for me. In between playing Baldur's Gate II like someone who is totally and utterly over-obsessed I'm hacking these Mikro's together. It's weird to take a code break :D Ah shit, and I need to update my Sig, SNMR.com rose like the pheonix from the Ashes. NP: Libitina - Painted Whiter Than White |

Mu-m - the small letter mu is used as a symbol for micro eg microgram of medicine. It's all Greek to me :D |
ยต is correct..
|
Cheers guys, now I just need to borrow you're graphical talents, and take all your money...
|
heh, you don't think I give MikroAMP enuff free publicity as it is?, bitch :D
|
No, give it more big boy ;) (Actually I want ;D but nullsoft don't provide it.)
|
heh, expect a big dollop of promo work coming any time now, ;)
|
I should damn well think so too.
And back on subject: Where are my instructions on how to create a 32 pixel square, 100% convincing dial? Damn I'm impatient, not like I'll draw a single pixel for days ;) |

Look up "The Art of Flying" or get the Mikro from Jones' Mikropack. Dissect it, enjoy it... just don't rip it.:D

Errr dude, me thinks Mike knows about the Mikro skin, he should do as he wrote the fucking application in the first place :D, I would re-read his initial request :D |

THEMike- If you really want a killer, photorealistic dial for a mikro I know how you can do it with minimal effort and it should come out absolutely cool. If you don't, then ignore this post.:D ps: you have a KNOB on your car stereo? Holy antiquities, Batman. Waddayagot, an 8-track? :D |
heh, think I misread as well, heh, I thought you were telling him how to find a template skin to work with heh, only had 15 cups of coffee today, still not awake heh :)

Why drink coffee? When you can eat in in its instant form. Or y'know those concentrated coffee syrups? Drink those.
It's really skanky mankyhttp://www.mear.fsnet.co.uk/smilies/grin.gif. Anyway:http://www.mear.fsnet.co.uk/mikroswitch.gif. Is this what you mean? I just whipped this up quickly, so I could do better*. I've got some metal textures I made myself. * eg. make the symbols actually visible and make it more realistic. |

or see if there is a pic of it on the net!

MY car stereo has one knob, it's the volume control. I still prefer analog volume selection to this day. |

You mean there is something newer out ??? |
Assaja hit it on the head. Get a digital camera (prefferably), or a webcam or even a poloroid if you have to... anything to get the pic scanned into your computer. (You might even find a pic of your stereo on the web.) Once you have your picture, Frame it out on a template. I like working on a 128*128 px square. Get it looking like you want it, reduce it to 32x32 and bobs your uncle. As a cheap plug, I use Irfanview to do all the pic conversion/resizing. :D
|
I don't want it to be MY car stereo knob, just that kind of appearence. You know a black textured plastic dial set in a lighted ring for easy twiddling. So photo = no.
I want the style, not the exact thing (no digi-cam, web cam=low res, no polaroid, never finish real films, I'm not photographer!) |
No use for a photo device.. Rip out your car stereo and put it in the scanner! :D
