hey all,

this is woodamp.

since publishing is taking so long right now, i thought i would post it here, cause i am dying for feedback.

this is my first skin, if you don't count a couple of half ass attempts that i promptly deleted. let me know of all my rookie mistakes. so, i can get right the next time.

if there is a next time. this skinning gig aint easy. this one took shape over a period of about a month. granted i was learning how it was done, but still.

one note, the actuall, read, submitted, version is a little brighter. i had to decrease the color depth to get it under the file size constraints for posting. and why, while we are on the subject, can you not attach .wsz files, when that is the point of this forum? just curious.

Hi! Welcome to skin love!

I think you've got yourself a nice debut skin:).
I like the button "eggs".
I like most of your colour scheme, but I think you should change
- The green dots.
- The blue in the playlist (selected song) to something closer to tge background colour.
- The red in the clutterbar (the letters to the left of the timer/vis area.

You have a nice texture. I think you maybe have put too much bevel on, but that's a personal-taste-thing (as is the colous), so don't listen to me if you like it the way it is.:)

You have forgotten to skin a part of titlebar.bmp. It's the easter egg bars that comes into view when you activate the main window and write "nul[esc]l[esc]soft" (without the "").
I have attached a file so you can see where you need to draw to get it.

i agree with you on the selected and the red in the main window. i think i had planned to do that but forgot, or got impatient.

however i like the bevel, and the green dots are supposed to be lights, i guess it doesn't really play that way.

how do you deactiveate the easter egg? now i have a stupid purple bar on top. i will skin that part, now that i know it matters.

and if i make those changes, and resubmit, i lose the week and a half i have been sitting in the publishing cue right?

To deactivate the easter egg just type in nul[esc]l[esc]soft one more time.

i like your skin a lot. allthough the only thing i'd really like to see added would be an addition of pressed states for the sliders and animated volume/balance/eq sliders

i will think about what i would want a pressed state for those sliders to look like.

thank you all for your input. there is bug that i know of; the directory button under the add files toggle in the playlist, does not shade like the others. also i don't like the minimize, maximize, and close buttons. i think all the buttons of that size contain graphics that are too dark.

so it may be that i have to republish it anyway. and i will definitly try to incorperate the changes you all suggest.

could some one please tell me if i would loose my place in the publishing que, if i did resubmit.

and i am working a screen shot, but i have to put in on the web first, right? i really have no where to do that right now. but i will try to figure it out.

i, too, really like woodgrain skins. that is how this one came about. i wanted one for my winamp, but couldn't find one that i liked enough and use easly. so i decided to make my own. talk about opening pandora's box.

There are 2 colours blue and brown. I don't like brown, but blue is very cool. :cool:

thanks bobo, i of course tend to agree.

ok, i made minor changes based on suggestions from you guys.

first, assja, suggested i change the color of the selected songs in the playlist, and the red in the clutter bar. which i did.

assja also reminded me that i failed to skin the easter egg bars. that is now done.

rikki suggested that i animate the sliders. i have also done that.

i also fixed the add directory button bug, and changed all the min/max/kill buttons to blend better with the overall scheme.

other suggestions were made but i felt that i liked some things the way they were.

the avs and the browser are not included in this file. for one, they are essentially the same as previously, and secondly, for some reason the zip file was bigger this time, so i had to leave some thing out to get under the size constraints. for those that didn't d/l my first post, they are skinned and match well with the other elements.

let me know if you like woodamp redux, or if you have any other suggestions.

i like he new version a lot more than the old one, out of curisoity what is woodamp redux? i'd like to see this.

the playlist vis is a little odd tho, to see this select the play list window and resize it a bit horizontally, then make sure that the vis (undernumbers in the main window) is playing then hit ALT + W maybe put a blue inset panel in here,

i didn't even know that existed. i always wondered why that vis looking thingy was there. i will definitly fix that.

woodamp redux is just a fancy way of saying woodamp redone. so, there is nothing extra to see.

what you can do with the blue space that u end up with, put in a graphic if you want, like a logo of ur name, but make sure that it is smaller than the area covered by the vis
