Basic Question - Full Screen Visualizations

Hello, I'm a new poster to the forums :-)

I have a question about full screen visualizations: when I want to view one, the visualization pops up on a small screen and looks great. But when I make it full screen, the speed slows down significantly and begins to look choppy. I was told by a friend that I should try adjusting my monitor settings (1024x768) and the fps settings, but I've had no luck so far. I'm not familiar with the intracasies of visualization settings; can someone help me?

Thanks - J

Welcome! :)

Which fullscreen plug-in are you currently running?

The common way to decrease the resolution of a visualization plug-in, is to configure the plug-in. Press "CTRL + P", goto the "Visualzation" tab and hit the "configure" button . (This also can be done by simpely hitting "ALT + K".) Then you'll see very often, somewhere in the configuration screen a option to select the resolution. Decrease that setting and you're (probably) done. You can fine tweak other options to make the plug-in look better but that's not too hard to find that out for yourself. Otherwise just come back with a new question. :D

Hi!

At first, I was using the plug-in that came with my latest d/l of Winamp (2.73; I'll upgrade soon). It was the Advanced Visualization Studio v.2.5

I'm not sure if I follow your first question: are there plug-in specifically made for fullscreen viewing, and others made for tiny-screen viewing? In any case, I tried another plug-in I downloaded a few months ago (Eonic), and by reducing the frequency, the picture came out a lot more smoothly. I didn't see an option to reduce the resolution, however (unless frequency and resolution are the same thing, I don't know). But, things seem fine for now - I'll post again if anything new pops up. Thanks so much - J:)

resolution / texture size / video mode etc. are all pretty much the same. :)

The viewing depends on the plug-in. Not all plug-ins have a fullscreen option.

AVS fullscreen, configure AVS (double-click on AVS windows), goto "Settings" (in titlebar) -> "Fullscreen" and select your video mode.

AVS never runs well in fullscreen mode. It was designed to not take advantage of hardware acceleration.

And the rule of thumb for other plug-ins is: The bigger you view it, the slower it gets.
