aww man!

I just lost 2.58 gigs worth of mp3s!!!!! :(

my 46 gb drive went bad for some reason after I tried installing it in my backup system. Now all my files, most imortantly my mp3's, are lost. :(

Now I did back up most of them in June, and about 75% of them are ripped from cd's I own anyways  , I have broadband, I should be back to having my full playlist in notime :)

It's sad though, even Revival 3.1 couldnt save them :(

eleet-2k2 29th September 2001 12:40

Ouch that sucks. I know the feeling of that too. :(

missyob 29th September 2001 13:12

The good side to this is you had 75% backed up. It is better than half!

I am sorry this happend, I know how frustrating it can be.

Have a good day hon,

Missy

I just found out my hard drive is FUBAR and I have to send yet another one to Maxtor, this one will not format or fdisk nor run scandisk. I cannot backup any files on it anymore, it doesnt matter because there are about a billion bad sectors on the thing :(

The last one I got from them took over 3 weeks for them to send it to me even though it says it should be shipped and arrived in 2 days. So I'll just have to settle with my 8 GB Quantum Bigfoot until I get that one back.

NeoRenegade 29th September 2001 14:25

Well, look on the bright side, now you can reencode all your MP3's again with the newest Lame and with your favourite settings, once you get a brand shiny new drive :)

Take care

Does FUBAR mean: Fux0red Up Beyond Any Repair?

eleet-2k2 29th September 2001 19:31

Sorry for the serial posting, but shouldn't you make frequent backups?

[edit]just fixed some typos.[/edit]

Yes I have heard of it.

Mr. Elite-TwoKayToo,
perhaps you've heard of the http://forums.winamp.com/images/edit.gif button?

I guess it is called looking at the positive side of things. It is something I learned a long time ago, and have carried on into my adult life. I used to be very negative, and "the victim", but changed my attitude around, thus finding a much happier, and peaceful life. I get aggrivated at things, and really mad and frustrated at times, but ya know what, I am just happy to be here and wake up breathing everyday.

To all: dont let the petty things in life kill your spirit.

I lost about 10GB of stuff yesterday. My BACKUP HDD just went Kaput, and nothing is retrievable.

That means all my programs, all my music. Gone. Disappeared. No longer with me.

Still, i got a new 30gb HDD :)

i saw this comin.

but now, think of all the fun youll have redownloading, and encoding your mp3s again:)

Bizznatch 1st October 2001 07:24

I'm more mad that Maxtor sent me a defective drive than losing my mp3s, oh well, the warranty doesnt expire until 2004 so if another one breaks, they'll send me another one. :)

Bizznatch 1st October 2001 09:29

good news!!!

I just fixed the 46 gb drive by myself!!!! This means I wont have to send it to Maxtor! I had to reformat in Windows 98 to get this thing back to work. This is great, I never thought I can get this drive to ever work again.:)

I may have lost 2.58 gigs worth of mp3s, but that's better than losing this drive.

Tomorrow when I get off from work I will print my mp3 list I made for another thread and check off and download or rip every mp3 I had on that list and get my mp3 collection back to normal! :)

This time when I finsih I'll back all of them up in case this ever happens again. :)

My 46 gb drive died again yesterday, this time the computer will freeze whenever I try to copy/paste files to my drive, the hard drive will make its weird clicking sound and I have to restart, after I reset the computer it'll take at least 3-5 boots to get the drive to load windows again, only to freeze once I try copying the files once more. :(

zorpidus 3rd October 2001 10:02

I've had those clicking noises too with my harddrive. It kinda sounds like when you boot and shut down your pc, y'know, that kinda click, but a whole lotta other clicking and weird noises too... While it's making the noises the drive is temporarily inaccessible.

I had it happening when my pc was on for a long time, especially with hot weather, so maybe you can check your case temperature and fan... That COULD be the problem...
