Capitalist Pigs

Are still better than socialist overlords:

When you shut people's mouths so they cannot talk, when you close their eyes by forbidding them to travel, when you plug their ears by jamming airwaves, the population becomes very passive. In this condition, when people don't care, it seems as if nature herself reacts: Fields produce less wheat, forests die of pollution, fouled rivers catch fire. The entire society degrades. This catastrophe is so far unrecognized in the West, but it has been obvious here. Life expectancy has fallen, and the infant mortality rate has risen to its highest level.

Even the ability of students to learn has deteriorated. Today's technology is so refined that only a person who thinks freely and critically can use it well- a person who has been taught since age four that he has individual worth, who has been taught by age eight that he has rights and responsibilities.

In our society, this new person has been weeded out; people with capabilities, with intelligence, practically the entire educated class, went to jail. Farmers who did better work had their heads mowed off like grass.

The rest of the world has evolved, but we have gone backward. This is the tragic difference between the Soviet Union and the rest of the world.

Capitalism - all means of production are owned by private individuals. Private enterprise provides goods and services in return for profit.

Socialism - all means of production are controlled by the state. Goods and services are provided to serve the greater good.

That's an extremely simplified version of the story, and there is a lot of overlap between the two systems.

[e]dang... watadoo just posted before me... as he said, there is a lot of overlap between the two[/e]

England of the 19th century was purely free market. The Soviet Union in it's heyday was economically purely socialist.

The Soviet Union had a heyday? :p

I think they also have a "Hay Day". I believe it's a national holiday. :D

I hope the people who vote against socialism truly realize what the socialistic maxim encompasses. Please don't take past failures as the status quo of the socialist system, as none of these have acheived what the socialist doctrine dictates.

BTW, I voted socialist

Curi0us_George 1st October 2001 23:23

Carmagio is a member of the communist party. :D

C'Mon peoples, I Can't be the only person who sees the beauty of placing the importance of social structure / reform over the importance of industrialism?? :(

Of course not.

Any true Christian would see it that way too.
Oh ... maybe you are then.

:D I don't believe in the christian god, or the muslim god, or any pagan god.......... I believe in the god of humanity

Curi0us_George 1st October 2001 23:44

If I recall correctly, Carmagio doesn't believe in God. I may be thinking of someone else, though.

I've already had this entire debate with Carmagio. I agree that it is a wonderful dream. I just don't think it would ever be possible.

Edit: Carmagio respoded while I wrote my reply. Sux0rz

At least one person understands my viewpoint......... BTW if you need any pro's to the capatalist debate, curious george is the man to ask. He's well educated on economics.
Thanks George. :D

Heaven forbid I should accuse anyone of being a Christian. :)

Maybe I should try a bit of long range editing

(edit) Any true Christian would agree with you.
Oh ... maybe you are the only one who thinks that way then.

Been a life long Socialist, but its getting harder and harder to find anyone to vote for. I have a horrible feeling it's going to take another war or big slump to make people see it your way.

In the end we all strike our own balance between society and self interest, I just hope we actually make our own minds up about it.

My view remains that there are two unchanging attributes in human beings: laziness and greed.

Socialism doesn't take either into account. It will fail.

Capitalism takes greed into account. In fact, it takes greed and transform it into a driving force for competition. That's why it will succeed.

Perl takes the laziness of programmers into account. That's why it will thrive. :D

Who else voted Socialism? I expected to be the only one.

Me too :p

No, but there's nothing wrong with choosing whichever option listed above. They both have their advantages and down-sides... They've both failed in a way...

No disrespect intended, and it's not wussing out, I really do think they are two sides of the same coin.

It's just that when churchs start to dispense Christianity and political parties start to dispense Socialism ...

Anyway I'm off down the pub to make a little music - thank goodness there's music

It's an Irish pub called the Killkenny, and in the next street to South Park Road. How weird is that.

I'd call that the Green Party's platform.
