Playing enhanced CDs
for some reason all of my enhanced CDs won't play on my computer. I dig through the CD. but the tracks are hidden.
for an Example, my Gorillaz CD won't play!!! it sucks because my computer is my Stero system, is there any Plugin that can find the tracks and then actually play them. otherwise I just bought a $12 drink coster!!! thanks! |
Right click the lightning bolt. Select Play > Audio CD D: or whatever your CDROM drive letter is.

already did the Copah route. not working,
Did the DLL rename, not working. right clicked the Lightning bolt. only got >Play file, play location, & view file info. f*ckn' A! |
you should at least have play directory
anyway is it a burner or a cdrom? 'play audio cd x:' only appears when a cdrom is installed, maybe a driver issue? do non-enhanced cds play fine in winamp? do you have the alternate cdfs.vdx installed (cd tracks (.cda) appear in explorer as .wav)? please try it with the nullsoft plugin first (uninstall cdreader), it should work with it |

The alternate CDFS.VXD should not make any problems at all. But if you have it installed, replace it with the original file that came with Windows just to make sure. What version of Winamp are you using? I'd recommend to download the latest version, v2.77 is the most current. Peace. |
hmmm. I'm running 2.5e *gasps*
I guess I'll try 2.77 well I finally got a reason to update my player. |
noooooo, I can play the CD now but its all skiping. mp3s are fine.
and all of my CDs are jacked up & skip not just the gorillaz CD. something wrong with input options? can't be my machine, win98se, PIII 500 with 512mb of ram. boo frikkn' hoo. |
Look, enhanced CD's should play ok in Winamp with the default in_cdda.dll
Main menu -> Play -> Audio CD Make sure Winamp is fully closed before editing the contents of the plugins dir. If Winamp was open at the time, lord knows what problems you'll create. Remove CDReader and try again. btw, I didn't see your last 2 posts until after I posted this. |
cool, fixed it!
thanks a lot guys! |
Alright, glad to hear you fixed it :).
By the way, if the CD-Reader plugin skips, just play around with its buffering settings. Set it to around 16 sectors of buffering, that should do the trick in most cases. Yet, CD-Reader also highly depends on your CD-ROM drive, and how well it can extract audio data digitally. Especially older drives ( <32x speed drives ) read CDDA data digitally pretty poor. Newer CD-ROMs, CD burners and DVD readers should be fine :). Peace. |
