I Want It Bigger

no, not that (get your minds out of the gutter)

i'm talking about images, i want to make my images larger, without sacrificing quality- is there anyway that this is possible

- please, if anyone knows of an image-editor (free/share) that will accomplish this, let me know, thanks :)

Vector images (Adobe Illustrator) -- Yes.

Bitmap images (.bmp, .gif, .png, what-not) -- No.

its imposible to make a raster image larger without losing quality... the computer has to guess what colors are used inbetween the given pixels.

try infranview, i forget the site, but its free, so just search for it

Vectored graphics
Vectored graphics are images derived on mathematical formulas. The consist entirely of curves, which form geometric shape (lines, squares, stars, circles, french curves). Because the image is mathematical, and not "real", it can be blown up to any size without degradation of quality, because the image renderer just recaculates the formula to a larger scale. Color is added by filling regions bounded by lines, either with a gradient, or with solid color. Vectored graphics require specialized programs such as Illustrator, but PS 6 has limited support for them. They can be imported by Photoshop, and be rasterized. Vectored graphics are primarily used for logos or illustrations (clip art).

Raster graphics
Raster graphics are formed by mapping color to a grid. For example, in a 1600x1200 image, the point (200,350) may be given the color value A19FFF. The bit depth is defined by the file format (e.g. PNG can handle up to 24 bits of color in 4 channels (RGB and alpha). Raster graphics are well suited to photographs. Because it is a grid pattern with a defined number of points, when an image is resized, grid points will be lost (reduction), or new grid points must be created (expansion) to fill up gaps.
