Nokia 8850 is finished and for 1 week it is waiting to be published

:(
I finished my Nokia 8850 skin, following my work Nokia 7110 in Spring. But it looks like that it is hard to publish it. It took days with full of struggle with error messages but at last, 7 days ago I managed to post it, but I dont really know when tehy will publish it.:D
Note: IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEM ÝN PUBLISHING YOUR WORK KEEP TRYING IT. SOMETIME YOU'LL MANAGE IT LIKE I

Mr Jones 27th October 2001 11:26

Get over it, publishing can take anywhere between 3-6 weeks.

Here's a few places where you can upload your skin with getting a bleeding ulcer:

nothing against you meast, bue i am getting very tired of these cry babies and their submitting problems

i guess they all think that their skin is the best and must be published now so it can recieve a billion downloads and featured on CNN for amazing artwork

Namelessv1 27th October 2001 16:44

Yes, it seems ever since the db was having problems, the tech forum and skin love have been flooded with these kinda threads.

Mr Jones 27th October 2001 16:50

Certain members of the review gang have taken it on themselves to create a set of "this is how it works" guidelines based on the orginal NS set of rules that we were given. It'll explain how the reviews work, whats objectionable, how long it takes to get posted, who the review guys are, what a rip is etc etc.

This will be posted at various points around the site hopefully to try head off some of these newbie style comments, just waiting for admin to cast their eyes over it at the minute.

LMAO!!!

KiwiFreak 27th October 2001 20:50

Maybe Nullsoft should put a disclaimer on the download page

[disclaimer]Due to the number of SKINNER.EXE skins currently being submitted, the time that it takes to review and publish YOUR skin will be 4 to 6 weeks. Any whining about this will result in a further 3 week wait![/disclaimer]

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Chiquita
-i guess they all think that their skin is the best and must be published now so it can recieve a billion downloads and featured on CNN for amazing artwork-

Well, I am not getting it on myself  but if they wont be published what f... are we spending 100s of hours to build a silly skin.
-If they dont want new skins they shall easily close the -Submit a skin- link...
It looks like you didnt get the point..
What makes winamp so beloved is the chances that it gives to its user to take a part in the development.
I dont want my skin to be published on CNN..
But even 1 man would smile and say "yes thats a good one" it worths all of my hours.
Amateur or pro. every single artist waits to be appriciated.

Your skin will be published, all in due time. And why are you making skins if you think they're silly. Try making skins for yourself first, for your friends next, and then for the whole community. You got it all backwards if you make skins so they can be published.

Neko 27th October 2001 23:36

hmm

almost all skins will eventually get published, unless they contain objectable imagery, or raciallly discriminating content, or, its just so plain ugly it would blind the viewer, your skin will in a month or so, appear on the database, if its good, you will be commended for your work, if its shit, you wasted all this time crying about it not being published only to get dissed as soon as it hit the database, Chiquita is perfectly right, and considering he has been here a whole lot longer than you, you can be sure what he says is most likely true, if exagerrated a little due to newbie rage ;)

you see, if everyone took their time over the skins they publushed, there would be a steady and constant flow of skins that would actually encourage you to change your fav skin, and the puslish time could then be as little as 1 week or less!, yet, thousands upon thousands download an automated skinning program and churn theif fav picture through it, then decide it would be a good idea to publish on winamp, hey, it means they get there name on the net after all!, but. the drawback being, the reviewers have to trawl through heaps and heaps of shit to get to YOUR skin, thus making the publish time around the 6 week mark, so stop crying and star on another skin, by the time your finnished your current skin will most likely be published.

KiwiFreak 28th October 2001 05:11

Well said RD, you hit the nail on the head there:cool:

meast 28th October 2001 17:58

I dont know why everybody is overstressed here.
First of all I am not crying for my skin to be published...(If you dont want, just dont do)..I have been making skins for winamp for nearly 2 years and the first was published 6-7 months ago..Despite this I never felt a need to join this forum till last week, cause I thought it would be a better idea to share something with others like me. If I had known I would be treated like a crying poor beggar I would never and ever try such a thing. And could anybody show me the idea behind opening a forum called "SHARE YOUR SKIN LOVE" and treat the joiners like that.
Secondarily I dont think what I did was a silly skin but the wat that guy Ciquatita(or what ever) looks like he has tendency to treat every skin like they are silly things and we are just wasting the time of this pretty guys over there with sneding 1000s of skins every day...
So what ever I dont want to continue such a useless discuss..

Neko 28th October 2001 18:16

meast, many newbies come here, crying about why there skin hasnt been published, and nine times out of ten, their skin is a crappy skinner.exe skin, if in your case that isnt so, i apoligise, but also, on that note, if you REALLY have been making skins for two years, have you been posting them here?, because you wouldnt be asking about the publish time, it has actually got SHORTER over the last few months, i think the reviewers deserve a little slack, they dont HAVE to do what they do, but yet they continue to do so, so appreciate them and wait patiently

Namelessv1 29th October 2001 03:31

Nicely put raydream. Why do you need your skin to be reviewed so hastily, meast? Itll get published, just have a little patience. Its in the database and unless its objectionable, itll be posted. Simple as that.

meast 29th October 2001 12:57

I am patient...
I am not crying for my skin to be published..
I just thought this place was where skin builders can announce their new made skins....
I have nothing more to say..
Thanks

Namelessv1 29th October 2001 21:40

Well, then give us a link.

PeaceMaker 30th October 2001 09:42

I've noticed Winamp have a few submission errors on occasions, but hey, I wait a day and it usually turns out alright.
Submitting skins with version numbers should be fixed up though.
