PS2 to offer linux version? Who cares?

I've heard that XBOX has change some stats like the Geforce3 to just a customized NVIDIA GPU. So what its still better and faster than What PS2 has. I just want real information

What are the stats on the XBOX? All of them not from microsoft.com playstation or nintendo or even happypuppy.com but from some one who knows the truth.

Why is the Game Cube purple? (i know the answer i just want to know what non-internationally fluent americans think)

Why is PS2 numerically inferior yet entertaingly more superior than what I beleive XBOX will offer?

I have my own views and opions of each Box based on the market econmoics and the companies they come from but what I really want to know is Should I buy the XBOX? why? or should i buy the PS2 and why?
(game cube is not an option :))

Actually, I am dissapointed with Nintendo and Microsoft. The Best Ever would have to be Dreamcast. But in the list, it would have to be PS2. I can't wait to try out the Linux version of it.

PS2 is the best console here. It's not based on M$ OS and there are many games made for PS1 and PS2. And PS2 works well as DVD player.

But X-Box also supports DVD-V, DVD-A, DVD-ROM. And X-Box is based on an Direct-X only OS. It is not running Windows, but it is running an Microsoft OS.

i didn't include dream cast because they got screwed over when microsoft announced their big bad release. but dream cast could be the best console in history; great price, profitable, original great games, and sonic the hedge hog kicks ass :D

but still they gave up. with good reasons too. now sega is going to be makin mass money developing games for PS2 Nintendo and X-Box

Definatly PC, I'm not a fa of consoles coz they aren't that good for playing the kinda games I like. FPS stategy games etc. Goldeneye was the best console game I ever played, but I'd rather play a PC version of the same game. Much more speed and ease of use with loads of buttons to do loads more things in the game. Consoles go out of date as soon as their released and the games cost an absolute fortune too

The reason the gamexube is purple is because a while ago Nintendo just sorta decided to make purple their special colour. It started with the Gameboy Colour's initial release, in purple and purple/transparent only.

I would say of all the systems, the most powerful would be X-Box, the most popular among mindless skilless gamers would be PS2, and the most viable system is GameCube.

Nintendo's the only company whose games are actually entertaining and high in quality and replay value.

yay! Nintendo r0x0rs. And for the gamecube you'll have the likes of Sega, Squaresoft, Konami, Lucasarts and loads of other top names developing games. The specs and screenshots are just incredible. And you will be able to buy one with a built - in DVD player. And it'll be cheap. I love Nintendo.

I only hope that they include the N64 controller with all future releases of their console coz that was the perfect controller you could ever make.
If I had to have one console it would the GameCube Followed by Dreamcast. I hate sony for no particular reason. I think that the PS1 got too popular and I dont like things that get too popular. Especially when they aren't as good as their competitiors

at release the gamecube is going to be available in 4 or 5 colors i think. perhaps they advertise it as purple to catch the attention of females who for the most part think video games are for boys (girly girls.) while as most boys will only care about how good the games are. (pink would be going too far.) i thought i saw somewhere that the ps2 is based on M$. (gamecube is based on some dvd format thing er something i believe.)

the reason they didnt put dvd in it in the first place was to keep the price down. i think the dvd game cube was developed by a non nintendo company and they dont know for sure weather if its going to be available in the us. it depends on how well it does in japan.

they have the xbox on display in eb game world in a mall in my town it isnt as great as i had hoped it would be but im probably still going to buy one.

game cube uses a 1.5gb 3inch disc with a green laser. neither dvd or cd. last time i heard. which was back in nam.

Dreamcast kicked major ass. Noted, i did wait till this last summer to actually pick up the DC. It was 50 bucks new and the games are super cheap. But DC has the best sports games i've ever played, and this goes back to atari 2600.

I liked PS 1 but was never ever impressed with PS2. Madden 2002 sucks ass. I wanan see the new Silent Hill game and Metal gear. Those are worth looking at.

GameCube and X-Box. Im gonna wait it out. They both look stellar, but only 1 of them are gonna blow up big. With Sega developing on all platforms, its gonna be a good ride for console wars.

I had a lovely DreamCast....mint baby with about 100+ games, sadly I had to update my shitbox computer to a slighty better one

Ps2 I tried it and I was very very dissapointed with it, it lacked, something, maybe lacking gaming and satifaction of the original psx which is the greatest thus far in console history, apart from snes of course, anyways

I seen GameCube...nice but I'm not sure yet

I want the Xbox, seen some great stuff from them and I think I will get it just to see what the little baby is like

As for me I am a console and Pc gamer I know what I want, A console for me is sitting down having a break from the computer playing arcade games or what ever I have in there
ofcourse Pc is the ultimate box, but consoles are stepping up to the plate to join PCs, becuase of one simple reason, people young or old are scard of using a PC, just incase they do something harmful and your thinking, no, well its true, have you ever seen your parents use a computer, they think that the whole thing is gonna break if they touch a key, well it does if it has a bomb on it or something like that

I just hope that Final Fantasy 10 will be on Xbox, plus Xbox looks nice and I'm also hoping they will have some sort of AVS on there to mess about with

the dreamcast is indeed a good console what sucks though is most of the good games will just be re released bigger and better on some other console. therefore im not sure if i should extend my now pathetic collection of games.

must get burner as to play snes on dreamcast.

how can you say only one will blow up big? the two companies are marketing to two different markets. X-Box is competing with the PS2 market and adults 20-30 the Game Cube is marketing to kids and if you watch shows parents watch its marketing it to parents. So that they buy them for their kids. Even though Game Cube hopes to snag some Teens with green its not gonna happen. If both systems can keep both markets seperate and healthy both will prevail

talk to a 6 year old to 12 year old

talk to a teenager or young adult (20-30) you can see how marketing affects their decision.

Dreamcast was a sports system. Its not robust enough to cover enough market share to fare well.

Actually, I'm 16 and really looking forward to the Game Cube. Smash Bros. Melee, The starfox adventure game and the new Star Wars game in particular look incredible. And the Game Cube will pick up where the N64 left off, with plenty of adult games like Resident Evil, Shadowman and Perfect Dark. The Cube will snag plenty of Teenagers and young adults, don't worry.

go to the ign site and look at biohazard (resident evil rerendered) that doesnt look like its for kids to me. nintendo is seems really focused on games and how they should be fun playstation and xbox seem to be more about the pop of games and how much of a market they are for profit. -edit- link1 2 (s-shots & movies)

I've heard that GameCube is going to be the best. I've also heard rumors the squaresoft is staying with ps2 for final fantasy 10. I'm going to half to wait until we know where square is going for sure.
