Searching for a Great Audio Editor

I am looking for a program that allows a song to be cut into each sound within the song, such as the beat, the lyrics, singing, etc. In other words, I want to take a song and cut the lyrics out and maybe some other sounds within it and put other sounds in it. I have several audio editors but they only allow editing with the wav's--I can't mute some of the individual sounds and add others...ANY IDEAS ON A PROGRAM LIKE THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.

Thanks.

Wait about a hundred years and then maybe something like that will be possible.

I know they have to have something out there...like feeding the music through dj equipment and getting rid of the sounds you dont want with the ones you do without having to go through all the wav formatting crap...

not unless you have the original studio recording.

I don't know very much bout this shiz but I think Cool Edit 2000/Pro is very good.

Not much you can do here as Neo says. There is some experimental stuff around, but nothing mainstream that I know of.

Generally speaking you can only do this sort of thing with either Midi files or multi-track masters.

yes this is not exactly something that comes without sacrafice.

there is currently no way of flawlessly taking out a single sounds, sample, vioce, etc from a single mixed down wav or other audio format.

Even when digitaly deleting niose from recordings, which is far easier then deleting or saving vocals from a single wav file, you will notice very audible changes to the other instruments and events in the song.

unless you have the original multitrack master recording, don't even bother.

Or as neo says, wait till this is possible in the far future.
