colors wont match on new skin

1 Attachment(s)
i just started making my first REAL skin (i didn't use skinner.exe for the background) anyway, i didn't get very far before i ran into a problem. i cant get my colors to match in the different bmp files. for example, i want the main background of my skin to be a certain grey. i want it to be that same grey around where it says stereo, but the colors wont match. is this cuz i use a shit program (paint)? i'm guessing that this is the problem, so... does anyone know how to exactly match the colors in paint? or does anyone know a better program that i can download for free?
thanks
btw here is a screen shot if you want to see what i'm talkin about

Either make sure you are actually using the exact same color for both (RGB values), or try setting the different bmp files to be the same number of colors. I know that the base skin files are all in 16 or something. With the first you could also use the eyedrop to get the same color

KiwiFreak 30th October 2001 01:01

Download the template amp and use this to build on rather than the winamp base skin. The template amp files are all RGB so there shouldn't be issues of having the same colour look different.

Go to Kazaa.com KaZaa to get a copy of Photoshop 6, or you can download the trial version of Paint Shop Pro from here.

Good luck:cool:

*ahem* kiwi - I'm not disputing your means of obtaining a program, but in a public forum, owned by AOL, what say we be a little more discreet in our instructions to newbies, eh? Official links are your best bet. JASC and Adobe both offer free trial downloads of their respective graphic editing tools, adobe's trial fillout form can be found here:

don't they use the same server? I think I heard that from somewhere

Ch33zels 30th October 2001 05:23

lol........ kazaa has spyware in it anywayz... for anyone who care about their privacy.....

_Blackdog_ 30th October 2001 19:09

so i downloaded, i mean bought ;) Jasc paint shop pro 7 and i really dont know how to use it. is there a site with an online tutorial or something?

btw someone said kazaa uses spyware. morpheus does use the same network as kazaa and has no spyware (so they claim)

KiwiFreak 30th October 2001 20:00

To be honest...I would expect them both to have spyware. Another one I use is Win MX, it's not as easy to use but I've been told it has no spyware. Anyway...check it out here

 it's good for transfering files between friends

_Blackdog_ 30th October 2001 20:07

now that i think about it, morpheus must not have spyware like they claim. i have a firewall (zone alarm, get @ download.com) and everytime a program tries to access the internet, it asks me if its okay. it hasn't asked me if its okay for any spyware programs to access the internet since i got morpheus

Just search on google or something for "PSP Tutorials" or "Paint Shop Pro 7 Tutorials." I'm sure you'll be able to find something

Ch33zels 31st October 2001 03:36

actually i think morpheus does have spyware, coz i installed it then ran ad-aware and it found heaps of spyware... aureate, gator.... erm.. some others that i dont know the name of.... but after removing them it still works so thats okay :D:D:D
