"Giveo"
I get a message saying "Cant Get access to the givieo device. Download it at www.hg.pp.ru" the site is a dead link. What should i do?
|
When and where are you getting this message? What are you doing to make it pop up on the screen?
This isn't a winamp component, so if you are getting this when playing a file, then you must have installed some type of plugin that requires it. You're going to have to post more information for us to be able to help you. |
Sound's like something a really old version of one of Peter's plug-ins would do... I'll give him a PM and hopefully he'll post here soon enough.

Just so you know...
umm..sorry, but i found out why i couldnt play half my library...uhh... i needed to update thier locations on my pc...heh:p sorry about the inconvienience. And also, the givieo error didnt go away, but just as long as i can play music!:D
|
Well, that's good news I suppose . . . as long as you can play your music.
Was it a case of dead links in the playlist? (ie. you physically moved or renamed the files) Though I'm still intrigued to know what this error message is all about. How is it spelt exactly? Is it givieo, giveo, or giveio? Still sounds like some dodgy 3rd-party plugin to me. Installed any extra Winamp plugins recently? Could be input, gen purpose, or an active dsp, output, or vis. If so, find out which one exactly, and remove it. Ah well, I never did get around to PMing Peter.

In reply to...errr....whats-his-name...
Giveio. And it first started happening when I upgraded to Windows XP.
Also, yes, it was a dead link in the playlist. |
Hi
whats-his-name here ;) :p :D Results from google for "GiveIO" search: http://www.google.com/search?q=Givei...=Google+Search http://www.powerbuilder.tmfweb.nl/giveio.htm (includes description + download) Contents of DirectIO.zip file: http://www.ddj.com/ftp/1996/1996.05/directio.zip/ More info: http://irdeo.de/eirdoplus.htm http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~mcken/prj/...ll/giveio.html http://www.sagebrush.com/vcrtech.htm Apparently, it's a Parallel/Serial Port Input/Output driver, which one of your devices needs, or some weird infrared/remote-control type of 3rd-party winamp plugin requires to work properly. Again, have you installed any extra 3rd-party winamp plugins? And I don't just mean since upgrading to XP. Upgrading suggests it wasn't a fresh install, so did you have any 3rd-party plugins installed prior to upgrading to WinXP? If so, one of them is no longer compatible, so find out which one it is and remove it. |
Windows XP
Again, it started when I upgraded to win XP--I havent installed any plugins AT ALL(Lyrics V1.22 or something like that and Wild tangent exempted, because they were installed AFTER I started getting these errors). Perhaps the plugin that Winamp needs only works with Win 95/ME/98/2000/NT/NT server/3.1 etc, etc, etc....
  |
Give IO
I found a solution to the giveio problem that I would get when I started my winamp in xp, I had a plugin called in_fm.dll it was HomeGames FM Tuner Demo v0.2 (x86) and when I removed it everything worked great. If this doesn't help you try to open the .dll files in notepad and search for giveio, then move it out of the /plugins folder and start winamp... maybe it might fix it.
My 'giveio' thread |
Cheers for the info :)
Yup, it had to be something to do with a dodgy 3rd-party plugin. |
