(PM) New skin >> basic stage
 

What do you think of this skin so far. I know its at a basic stage, but i'm still trying to think of a cbutton layout.. any suggestions on this or any other part of the skin?

It looks alright. Are you trying to make it metallic somehow, or plated? To me it looks sort of like a sketch or something. Something needs to stand out more.

I agree it looks plated. For what it is, I like it, but I'll have better comments for you when you get some more elements going.

It looks really cool....looks like a hole heap of riverts are holding it all together & the mere fact that it isn't being made by a skinner.exe rates highly in my book.

I think it looks like a canvas bag with rivets....why would someone stick rivits in a canvas bag?

It looks like it's made out of old, rusted up tan plane wings.

And, of course, I like it. You're on your own with the components though...

it's nice and the color is kewl, but one thing: make it more 3D...add some borders or something

Been working on my skin lately, after which it has turned out to be like this.. I worked out the cbutton and shuf/ref areas, now its vol/bal slider time.

Winamp having some errors lately?

just one last post before i leave.., man this skin is looking seriously cool, but may i suggest you do something about the gradients at the bottom, they kinda ruin the rest of what i think is a great skin

Yeah..I agree with Raydream...the grandents look like they belong to a totally different skin.:cool:

I was just thinking how the gradiant areas might look better transparent...

Good point Forever, having it transperent would match the transperent parts along the side.

I was considering transparency, but I was wondering how this would reflect against the playlist, although I may have a different approach to that part later.:eek:

Ok - after a hectic time in the region file, this is what I have come up with. I went for the stripe type effect rather than all see thru one.
Got to brush the edges up a bit, but that will be done later after the pledit.

I'll just attach the image this time:D

I don't like the stripe type effect - on this skin it looks out of place. I think all of it transparent would look mucho mas bueno

I think you can pull off the stripe effect if you're attached to it, but try going all trans and see what you think.

I think I would prefer to see it all transperent rather than the strips.

ANyway...thats my 2 cents.:cool:

Ok well I think with a demo playlist now, it suits the strips a bit better.. plus a plain white see thru background doesnt have much of a effect, it looks better over a wallpaper.

Green will do though.

Think of the pl buttons being text like the main, in effect.

yeah I think you can pull off the stripes still

however, I'm not sure about the EQ slider buttons but I might needa see them in action before I can say for sure.

silly, I meant I need to see what it looks like when you click the button and drag. But I'm assuming the little dots on the other side of the bar kinda light up? when you drag the slider? yes?

I'm not sure about your numbers.. I kinda like them, but then they're kinda don't match.. but they do at the same time. I think its going to have to be a "taste" call. What do you think? They don't look completely terrible.

whats the dif between nums_ex.bmp and numbers.bmp? I assume nothing at the moment because it seems to work the same with either bitmap, unless im missing something?

i might fiddle with the numbers, try it at a normal font.

from ur comment forever i take it you still didnt realise that the second link worked and ur guessing what the little lights do..
the slider button is similar to vol/bal where the light turns on. the little dots move up and down, depending on the direction of the button fading out at peak position, similar in a way to another skin of mine.

numbers.bmp is 99x13 and contains

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 _ (blank or +)

the minus sign comes from the middle horizontal 3/4 pixels of 2

nums_ex.bmp is newer and contains:

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 _ (blank or +) - (minus)

The newer versions (not that new) look for nums_ex first and then numbers, whilst older version only support numbers

Anybody like to tell me why "_ex" as in nums_ex and eq_ex? :D

i like the EQ sliders, I like the stripe pattern still too. I'm not particularly fond of the PL buttons (<---joke, I'm sure you're not finished them). Are you going to add labels to the shuf/rep like similar to the cbuttons? i like the cbuttons
my only suggestion right now would be perhaps add a 3rd light to the PL/EQ buttons to make them look more animated when you click.

like have the down ones darker or brighter than the actual "on" light.

At a guess I would say "ex_tra", as in "these bitmaps were brought along after the main set of images, so they are extras"
