Rating Yourself as a Skinner...
 

Well, how good or bad of a skinner do you see yourself?

I would have to put myself at decent or mediocre...

I wouldn't say I'm the best skinner, but if I really focus myself I can turn out decent skins. None of mine have actually been published because of harsh criticism, but maybe the next one will, unless people don't like it.

I like to think I'm a pretty good skinner.

I've never used a skinner.exe, and I have put out some really bad skins, but all in all there's an obvious style to what I do put out, and I've managed to get quite a few (4 I can think of off the top of my head, not too good considering I have 35+ skins) recognized by the community and the skin review squad.

I do think my imagination is limited though, else I could do better. Out of my (actually goes and counts) 38 skins available for download, I can't say that I hate any of them. I can say there are 2 that I strongly dislike but remain for sentimental purposes, and I do have a folder that holds currently (goes and counts) 6 skins that are either incomplete, need an update, need a major overhaul, or I'm just too embarrassed to share its misery with the world. (one of those is published though, awaiting an overhaul, no mikro, no mbinner, and no one seems to like it)

What do you think about it? - JazTech Its ok to say its not great. Its clean and functional and not the base skin. In my eyes, that makes a quality skin. But I wouldn't personally give it more than a few stars, and it is in no way equal to no ones amp. But then I think that no ones amp doesn't really deserve as much attention as its getting.
If I had to pick out my favorite, and what I consider to be one of my bestest skins, I would say its Mercurian, and Mercurian gets very little attention by comparison.

I still think over-all I'm a pretty good skinner, but its not easy to prove :)

I don't know how I could possibly rate myself.... I've been skinning since........well, since 2.0, and I know quite a lot of tricks (most of them used in Extravagant 2.5), but my problems were I didn't have an internet connection till I think November 2000 and I didn't know how to use anything else than Paint and Skinner (since those were the only things available). I think I'll give me "Decent".

i gave myself decent.. im not less or more then that.. still trying to become more some day though

i just want to say that i am adaquate, some of you may think my skins are the coolest, and some of you ma think they suck, in that sense, im adaquate, point is, i like my skins, and my girlfriend (who i make them for) likes them too, if others like them, then its a bonus :D

Ive been skinning in and out since around when you could only skin the main.bmp screen, dont know how long ago that is, but I would only rate myself as an medium/good or OK skinner, although I can come up with some cool sketches on paper, but are a bit "Winamp" restricted.

I tried working around winamp restrictions in my last skin 'abrupt'.
which I started 1 year ago, didnt work on it for half a year, and was only finished and released last month.

The main thing that really stops people from coming up with some good proportioned looking skins ( I believe ) is the layout of winamp, and although winamp 3 sets this to virtually null, i couldnt be stuffed doing the coding anyway.

I think people are running out of ideas for their skins, otherwise ripping wouldnt occur as much/often as it does.

in my mind, my skins kinda suck. they all lack any type of visual stimulation. i need to learn to focus on one skin at a time instead of having 5 open in PSP at a time

decent I think...my skins are a quite average i think...and I always hate them when they're finished (how could my 1st skin get 5,000 d/ls?! I can't undestand that :D)...but I'm working on it :D

I dont know. Errr. I think ill do the last one becuase i dont know what the hell it means. If it means i suck, thats not entirely false ;)

I know i suck at posting mesages though. Is ther some way i can put a picute or a quote at the bottom of my post without doing it manually every damn time?

I wanted to choose the second best one, coz some guy named "Dark-Wing¤" have rated some of my skins with 5 stars :), but I know I'm not that good.

I've been both busy and lazy for a while, and put skinning and comunitying aside for a while.
I have, however started on a new project, a (oh no, not another)Metal skin (attatched) for a band I'm in.
It's going painfully slow, but it's going :p

I would have chose mediocre (or however you spell it :P) cos i've only made three skins, although they did all get over three stars :) (one got three the other two got four woohoo!!!) I think you would all agree though, that i've got better throughout, especially if you compare my first one to my current one.
But I think that the ultimate goal in skinning is to make a skin thatyou alone like, and most of mine I do, but it is a bonus if 100000000 people download it too :)
