HOW TO PLAY mpeg audio songs in winamp?

I HAVE A DIRECTORY IN MY HARD DISK TO CONTAIN ALL MY .MP3 SONGS AND .MPEG SONG. EACH TIME I ORDER WINAMP TO PLAY THE DIRECTORY IT WILL ONLY PLAY THOSE .MP3 SONGS. IT WON'T PLAY THE .MPEG SONGS. HOW CAN I SOLVE IT?

mpeg are usually video files

there are video plugins for winamp:

http://wwwpop.hypermart.net/plugin/welcome.html

but winamp is a music player, better get a video player for those files:

lion king,

thanks for your help. but if i double click those .mepg file. they will be played in winamp. they just won't automatically played if i chose to play the directory. do you know why?

please play one of those files by doubleclicking and look up what filetype it is:
highlight the file in the playlist > playlist buttons > misc > file inf > file info

i follow your instruction and here is what i see

Mpeg info
Size: 4163265 bytes
Header found at: 0 bytes
Length: 260 seconds
MPEG 1.0 layer 3
128kbit, 20015 frames
44100Hz Joint Stereo
CRCs: No
Copyrighted: No
Original: Yes
Emphasis: None

the file is .mpga type

If those "MPEG" files are actually MPEG 1.0 Layer 3, then they're actually MP3 files. Make sure you have Windows set to show extensions, and rename those files to .MP3

i can only change the name of the song how can i change it's extension? thanks

If you're using Windows 95 or 98, you open My Computer, and go View > Folder Options > View and uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types and click OK. If you're using Win2000, WinME or WinXP, it will be different how you get to this menu, but the option should be the same. Once you've unchecked the option and clicked OK, you should be able to rename the extension of any file.
