Skins not "installing" xp winamp 2.77

Just started having this problem.

Skins aren't being copied into the correct directory when they are downloaded.

In fact they aren't even being downloaded.

When I try to download any of the skins from winamp.com I click on download...

get the popup showing the skin is downloading into temporary folder, when it is done winamp comes to the forefront...but it has its default skin on. in fact if I had a skin prior to the download it gets stripped off and only shows the default skin.

i cannot find the new skin in any directory on my harddrive...

I have uninstalled, deleted winamp.ini and registry entries...

please help this sux.

thanks jon

Maybe that's a Winamp on Windows XP problem. Winamp isn't officially compatible with XP.

Have you treid to download the .wzs file to your Winamp skin directory by right clicking the file and "save target as..."? Can you check if this works? It's just a guess...

It's not just an XP problem. Every so often I get this too, though I've been too lazy to track down the problem. Check your file associations, and use 'save target as'.

Could be a problem with the internet cache?
Too full/corrupt?
Maybe try clearing it out and/or adjusting the size.
(IE Options -> Temp Internet Files -> Delete/Settings)

If the worst comes to the worst:

Instead of letting the browser automatically run from current location by default, goto: Folder Options -> File Types tab,
scroll down for WSZ (Winamp Installation Extension / Skin Zip)
Click "Advanced"
Checkmark "confirm open after download"

You will now be able to specify "save to disk" instead.
Just save the WSZ files to winamp\skins dir

DJEGG
You were right on. Deleted my internet cache and walla.
Didn't realize it was set to 1800MB, whooohooo guess that is what you get when you install on a 60GB!

Thanks Loads that was a PAIN in my buttocks.

Jon

Zoiks! A 1.8GB internet cache
LOL, You must've had half of the entire net stored in there :D

Anyway, glad it worked! Yay :)
