okay, just wanna do a lil poll, what skins do you like more..

Original skins, or skins made from a picture? (NOT SKINNER SKINS)

Original shows how much you thought about each detail of the skin by going one by one. Its sort of the same with pic skins, but with that you already practically have the main part: the background. Skinner.exe skins? :mad: if it weren't for mods I'd critcize every one with full force.

what do you mean? pic skins can still be very original, and non-pic skins very boring...:p

pic skins.. but not just a picture.. but a nice combination of pictures and creativity... doesnt need to be picture of persons or whatsoever...

i think u're way out of line by saying pic skins are un-original.

nearly 75% of the members here make pic skins. pic skins are the hardest to make. u have to inquire sweet ass buttons and sliders as u would for a regular skin but with a pic skin, u have to navigate around the picture itself

What's left to say? You all know what a pain in the ass Winamp's bitmaps are to work around as they are. Try it with a picture in the mix.

i didnt say picture skins weren prigional, but they ARE made from a picture which already existed, the skin may be origional, but the picture isnt, and please do not try to argue with that... i didnt make this thread to start a fking war

just for the record, I hunted for hours for just the right spongebob pics (to which I never found much of any)

I had to design sandy from a coloring book download. I had to do multiple screen shots of a game for the spongebob cursors, and the rest I didn't care enough to spend a lot of time except for Gary who totally ownz, and I got him from another game

then my milla skin, sure I didn't take the pictures, but I managed to resize, revamp, recolor 4 different pictures so that i could collage them well enough to fit her face 4 times into a small 275/116 square... not even that cause I had to leave room for various text elements

and then the MK skin... do you have any idea how many hours it took me to fit (counts: lui kang, rayden, johnny cage, scorpion, sub zero, goro, shang tsung, sonya, kitana, reptile.. I think thats it) 10 faces onto that skin? (not to mention the eq sliders are fabulous!)

now the Nikki Cox skin? that wasn't very good. But it was my first and I spent way too much time on it for what I produced.

Maybe the faces are unoriginal, but the skins themselves require mad talent. And even though I think I'm good, I know there are tons better. Just go look and see.

Or better yet, make one.

how am i supposed to make a 100% original skin of christina aguilera? i dont know her so i cant take a pic of her. i dont have the money to go to one of her concerts and take a pic of her. i dont own a camera so i cant just watch TRL and take a pic of her video.

i think ill stick to the unoriginal pics

okay, i know i said im leaving, but im addicted to skinning, since everyones going on about picture skins and such, ive started work on ayu amp, using an imge of Ayumi Hamasaki, since she's my fav singer :P

Acctually, where would you class a hand drawn picture skin?, would that be a "picture skin" or a "original skin"?

Examples can be provided if need be :)

i would assume that would be origonal, as its something that person created, so would go in the origional skin catagory, when i say picture skins, i mean those built around a publicly available image... , if the image that person drew was publicly available, and they made a skin out of it.., then it would be a picture skin.. hmm, this is fucking confusing, heh

I once skinned using a photo that I'd taken of my girlfriend (not available anywhere before someone asks), that original as well then, seeing as I'm the original photographer, guess it must be.

Picture skins, Original skins, it doesn't matter, as long as it's good quality, it's dandy in my book. Skinner.exe are entirely different, but that's for another post.

i know you didnt raydream, but the poll made it seem pic skins arent orriginal.. thats why in my post i said a mixture of both is cool, pic and orriginality

no it don't mess up too much,

I hope its safe to assume you're not finished this one. I think the EQ bars are sweet. They scream "Raydream"! with the circle design. The animated vol bar is awesome, but I would like to see the Cbuttons just a little bit brighter <----blind, they're hard to see. The posbar is fine, but I had to click a couple of times to find the EQ/PL buttons (assuming they're not finished)

You might want to consider moving her to the other side of the main window. It really can't hurt to mirror her image either (so that she's facing the other way). Put her just under the song name, and I think you'll find it works out just a little bit better.

No worries on her face, like I said, it doesn't mess it up tooooo much. So its quite tolerable. Just get me some more buttons!! If you want to be lazy, those EQ slider buttons would be awesome for the control box, min, ws, close buttons.

I have to say this though, if you leave her face where it is, you might get more for originality. I don't think I've ever seen a pic based skin(ner) that was bold enough to put it on that side (just because of the vis). But then you might get less for aesthetics (since she's much prettier without the vis window in the middle of her head).

Leave her on the left side....pic skins are supposed to look pretty first and then to be useful, and I like it how it is...and it's surely original! :p
