Well its time again to show off another variant of the JadeTube Series. This time 'I' Sliced the veins of the skin and now we have a blood red version. BloodTube ScreenShot is right here...lol

I reckon now GaretJax its time to start off new, create something different, instead of tinkering with the multiple variations of Jade Tube.. there's only so far you can go with a skin until it gets repetitive.. which then turns boring, not just for the skinner, but for the viewer.
You have a good design, but maybe Jade needs a replacement.:D

I hear and agree....oh how would it be to finally be off this bandwagon. LOL. However, I gave my word that I would complete a series of color variants. And I'm still on them. As this is the last of the variants...I will be able to move back on to my more norm. Of Which my next skin is Devour II. As the first never did very well but, was a great skin the making.

As the Blood is finished I will move back on to working out the various design aspects of both Devour II and WoodShop Elite (collab: The Only Lynx / Ampburner / GaretJax )

These projects of and in themselves allow me to work with a few individuals for which I have high regard and allow me to personally flex my own ability once again on Devour. As such I apologize for the monotonous nature of this thread however, I do enjoy allowing others to view and see my work as it continues in its evolution as it were.

Lust There have been a few screenshots...( in this thread I believe.). Sooner or later I will complete it.

I liked your Slick Series the best.. my prefered style.

The Slick Series it seems was a sort of fluke. To be honest I don't think of them as very good or even preferred...However, it seems as with all things people seem to like what they like regardless of the how or what the creator may think of them.

Slick Series 4 & 5 are my best out of that series...However, Devour & JadeTube 3 are the best that I believe that I have ever made. @ least that is my personal belief...LOL.

Others tend to think a variety of things...but, that is the nature of the beast.


One day I will revisit Slick Series 5 and fix it up. The main window is nasty...it deserves more attention as it coud be a very nice skin...just it hurts the eyes on the black bits...heh

I will fix it though one of these days (btw: it was going to be the update to Slick Series 2)...Just never finished it...

And if you ever saw Slick Series 1 you'd laugh your ass off...as it was my 3rd Skin Attempt back in 96 or 97.

Just checked out Devour, I didnt even notice it before :D but yeh I can see where you could change quite a few things.. one thing tho.. whats the go with the dodgy slider buttons? did you run out of time, or was how you intended they should look like.

just cheesy stupidity on my part in the design phase..

I thought it would look kewl and it just chumped up the skin even more.

not bad at all:D what are you planning to do with the base part of the vol/bal sliders (where those dots are sticking out)? you could adapt this into the eq/pl buttons or something:igor:

The volbar/eq sliders are still up in design phases.

My current thought is that the 'dots' as you see them will brighten/darken and the background simalarly. The buttons for the cbutton row will have yellow 'pop' up placements on the top white area that will be the identifier for each. As for the textual I am going with a small font text type for the song info. And the classic elongated numbers. As for the ViS area it will be black with two hinges on the outside. More to come as soon as I establish some flow around the skin. Currently, its just a slight movement rather than a full out dev. My time is being divided between Devour2/BloodTube/WoodShop Elite and a personal that will be released with the release of devour.

I am utilizing photoshop actions for the last skin as well as a custom texture that will definatly show off the skin w/ more detail and more texture to give it life. It will be a tribute to my most favorite horror/action of all time. (heh). This is a project, that I have wanted to do for sometime but lacked the essential skill to complete it (and the reason I began skinning in the first place.)

-Ampburner I would love to have your hand in this if you think that you could take on a bio-organic textured skin, emphasizing on style/action and texture, in the Alien Genre (Movie).

I really like that skin!

There's only one thing I'd change with it.

I don't like the font in the playlist. The color is fine, but the type of font, it just doesnt fit the style of the skin I don't think.

Maybe the original playlist font?

Please show us Slick Series 1, I wanna laugh my ass off :D, it's surely better than the skin I'm working on...whoops, did I say that out loud :eek: . Oh yeah, Devour 2 and Bloodtube rock :p .

Devour is really really sweet'n'shiny but me thinks that yellow bar above the vis needs more detail (would be hard with the numbers though).
PS I like Slick 2 best....Dunno why :D

As far as I'm concerned - JadeTube still reigns supreme - I don't think BloodTube does the concept justice - but maybe after making so many versions its just obvious that you're heart is no longer in it

I headed over to 1001 and had a look at your list there - I must say - disregarding my bias towards Jade - that the Copper version is too sweet

i dont really like the yellow color on devour2. id prefer one thats more brownish. all ur stuff looks really good tho

Considering Copperv2 was actually the first of the series kinda shows how long I have been involved with the (Tube) series. I think the original Date of Copper was Sept. 2001 with about 1 month of development time. So, since october 2001 until January 2002 have I been working on the tube series with little else in between except my occasional (movement).

So, Revision wise lets see

4 Revisions...Although, I've been asked to go back and fix Copper...

Sigh....

I will likely try and sequestor someone else to revise it...if possible. Its a good skin but, requires some detail work on it.

my current wa3 skin as it seems that many are working on one...I thought I'd show some of my work now....Dunno why its been in progress for about a month now....

uhmm dog allowed me the information of a failed link for slick 1 so here is the actual image.

a different concept for a wa3 skin now blending what I know of Metrix + Many others of my own skins....Trying things out.

Devour 2 is on hold (the gold one) or it may just die...I really don't want to do it....But, open to allowing someone else to do the rest of the leg work and call it a collab skin.


But, no one ever wants to do that sort of thing.

As far as the WA3 Skin is concerned that is what I am doing until its done...then I will go back to designing WA2 skins or just completely make the switch.

its XML Based so yes for the most part.

Yeh XML is the easiest part, but the animation and alpha blending is what makes a better skin, this is really what id like to know how to do within the scripts.

many of your animations can be done with 'gif' file rather than using an action script. As this would provide a much more feasible usage than creating 20 images to do a simple changing element.


To understand what I am talking about...the best way is to create an animated gif...then use it as say the volume button...but, only use it when the user is moving the arrow....


or you can label each png image...for example
vol_bar1.png
vol_bar2.png
vol_bar3.png
vol_bar4.png

then you would use a javascript to increase the number when someone uses the button.

ie

something like

next

or something like that anyways.
