Anyone else experiencing this?
Please don't flame me, this isn't a complaint but a query. Does anyone else who uses the Linux alpha (2) have it crash out when they try to navigate to a different part of the song?
Cheers |
Don't worry, you won't get flamed for a question like that! At least not by me! :D Because, it's a simple question, with no obvious answer in the FAQ.
The Linux version is still very alpha. I can't help you seeing as I don't run Linux, but I'm sure somebody will! James |
The Linux Alpha is based off of a rather old build of Winamp 3 (Alpha 667). Pretty soon, Brennan is going to incorporate the linux version back into the current up-to-date codebase. The player should improve considerably in later alphas.

Darn, I was hoping there was, I finally got alpha 1 to work (it was Red Hats fault, well sort of) and was hoping that I would have something else to play with.

u have this problem too bad4ms? (need to know if its hardware)
|
No, I don't have the problem that you're experiencing, but I wouldn't say that its hardware. The Linux version is very particular about which files it wants and which versions it wants (even some files that it doesn't show). I'm not sure how it connects to the sound card, but try updating all of the drivers, including the esound, oss or any other sound engine your distro comes with.

Could be worse. I can't play mp3s at all with it, it's stupidly jumpy, and whenever I try to move it about the screen it 'wobbles'. This is difficult to describe, and I've never had it happen to me before, but when I grab the title bar and try to move one of the components about, it shakes like crazy in all directions. To move it at all, I have to drag it very slowly whileit wobbles about like crazy. If I drag it too fast, the component flies off the screen (you'd have to see it, it's quite funny actually). Has anyone else experienced this one?
