XP, I means whats the deal with that!

I think the system is great, its fast. Probably the most stable thing MS has ever made but WHY DO THEY HAVE COLORED UGLY TASKBARS AND TITLEBARS ALL OVER!

Curi0us_George 7th December 2001 07:24

Start -> Control Panel -> Display -> Appearance -> "Windows and Buttons"

choose "Windows Classic Style"

Click "apply"

Voila! Back to old style.

You can also change the "Color Scheme" if it's just the Blue that you don't like.

for some reason, i think i might actually buy XP. hold on tight, it's gonna be one helluva ride...

binary hero 7th December 2001 07:52

yep, about 20 patches in the first 2 weeks O.O

griffinn 7th December 2001 08:53

That's about the same rate as any decent Linux distribution.

Curi0us_George 7th December 2001 15:34

If they want to release twenty patches every hour, I'd be happy. More patches mean less bugs. Looks like a positive thing to me.

Complaining about patches is sort of like bitching because nVidia pumps out new drivers all the time. It doesn't make the ones you've got any worse. It just means that something a little better is available. You aren't obligated to go get them.

never was very impressed with xp, win2k users usually aren't.
just takes more ram than 2k, and has better icons...

win2k sp3 is coming soon, and i can get wmp8 or ie 6 and themes to resemble xp if i wanted to, but nah. i prefer classic, with a nice set of fauxs-blue icons :)

I don't bash it because I hate MS. I actually don't see the reason why people hate them. I asked somebody once why they hate XBox and they said they hate Bill Gates. Let me tell you guys a little something about Bill Gates.

[Bill Gates Info]

Bill Gates has nothing to do with the programming of Windows or any other product.

If it weren't for Bill Gates, Winamp, the Internet, Home Computers, easier programming language than Assembly (I.E. C, C++ BASIC, QBASIC, VBASIC, Java, etc.), Computer Programmers getting money for their job (In 1960 something he suggested this and was blown off. Then some other guy thought that he had a point that they should be getting money for their hard work, such was born "Software". Before they only had Freeware Applications).

Bill Gates just claims the money for his manufacturing stuff. Sure that's a reason to hate him, but not a reason to hate Microsoft. You should be supporting Microsoft but trying to remove Bill Gates, he's taking other people's money.

[/Bill Gate Info]

The reason I bash WinXP is because I had it once. It screwed up my registry and killed my computer. I fixed it (barely) and resorted to go to the best Windows version ever, Win98SE. Everyone thinks WinXP is too user friendly. No it's not. Only Home Edition is. The Professional Edition is the most extensive Windows out there, but it made my computer hurt high pain. My computer shouldn't have to feel that pain. Supposedly, according to what I have heard, WinXP HomeEd does NOT have a Control Panel. What a big mistake. Could somebody correct me on this if I'm wrong? [EDIT] I was corrected. Home Edition does have a control panel. Tells me what an idiot I wam for listening to an idiot on the street named Bob Dole. [/EDIT] Anyway, starting with WinME Microsoft has been going downhill on my likings. Too user freindly, until they released WinXP Pro, which bashed up my PC really badly. I had just got a new computer too! (Custom made, and when I say custom made I mean bought the pieces and put the computer together myself, Athalon with GeForce2 64 MB, 40 Gigs, Hercules GameSurround Sound Card, LinkSyS Ethernet Adapter - needed for my home network -, and some other things that elude me right now.) I think that they should fix some crashing bugs and registry bashing bugs then I'll try it again. Otherwise, I rest my point.

LMAO! Who told you that? It most certainly has a control panel. I'm using pro right now, but I've used home on another pc and could hardly tell the difference between them.

Okay, thanks for correcting me :)

It was some idiot on the street that called himself Bob Dole…

XP home's control panel has almost the exact same things on it as 9x/me did
