Any time you feel the need to say it has nothing to do with Winamp 3... it belongs in General Discussions. Thats what that forum is there for.. :D

After reading the article and many of the replies, I *believe* the author was serious. I could be wrong (and I hope I am), but if I'm not, that is just sad ;)

What gonz said. Times a million.

But surely if you're posting to messageboards you must know enough to know that all that is total SHITE!

I'm sorry, I am just SO alarmed by that, seriously!

BSD, Lunix, Debian and Mandrake are all versions of an illegal hacker operation system, invented by a Soviet computer hacker named Linyos Torovoltos, before the Russians lost the Cold War. It is based on a program called "xenix", which was written by Microsoft for the US government. These programs are used by hackers to break into other people's computer systems to steal credit card numbers. They may also be used to break into people's stereos to steal their music, using the "mp3" program. Torovoltos is a notorious hacker, responsible for writing many hacker programs, such as "telnet", which is used by hackers to connect to machines on the internet without using a telephone
The article is a piss take, nothing else. Really, just read it again, he knows his stuff but just takes the piss. As someone said in the replys...u guys are the punchline!

CraigF 13th December 2001 23:08

yeah, i read it a couple of weeks ago and laughed my socks off. whats more annoying is the way people keep sending it me :D

Russ 14th December 2001 09:09

Yeh, that's from Adequacy.org, which is a parody of geek lifestyle sites like kuro5hin. The most scary part is that some of the people writing comments must actually believe what the read.

(btw, the best way to tell it's a parody is that they keep on bashing Linux as a hacker tool, but their site actually runs on the Scoop engine under apache on Linux =)

If your son has requested a new "processor" from a company called "AMD", this is genuine cause for alarm. AMD is a third-world based company who make inferior, "knock-off" copies of American processor chips
doesn't that give it away?????

That was stupid and a waste of time

Omnislash 15th December 2001 04:07

WHY do people never think to ask themselves "Is this writer being serious?" when they read something inflammatory?

I especially love the comments from the indignant morons who think that this is real.

It's sad to believe that there are people who have never read The Onion.
