Wishlist: Split File Info & ID3 Editor dialog and make modeless
 

I think the current way of accessing file and ID3 info for a file is quite tedious if done for more than a file or two.

Instead I think the dialog could be split into two: one for file info and one for ID3 view/edit. Additionally they could be made modeless (i.e. as I move thru a playlist they would be updated) and, optionally, skinned. Also, the ID3 dialog could put the v1 and v2 info on two property pages to reduce the desktop footprint (although not sure how easy this is from a cross-OS point of view).

I don't think its a matter of a suggestion...because thats pretty much how all things do/will work in WA3...

I'm sure that ID3 editing will be modeless and skinned because all components are that way, and ID3 editing I'm sure will be a component.

Although, I think ID3 editing will actually take place in the media library... that way it doesn't matter what tagging scheme a file type uses, it can be modified.

Cool, then I can't wait till the feature is out! I didn't see it in the current beta and assumed it would be similar to WA2.

I don't agree with this. I think access to ID3 from the playlist will be implemented 'cause most users r use to do it this way in WA2 and 'cause not everybody will use the ML and it would b very uncomfortable to have to go to a component that u don't use only to modify ID3.

i like the idea of easy editing the id3 tag in the ML

So that if you miss some of the id3 tag...eg. only have artist and track - you can just click in the blank space in the album collumn
and then you are able to write "Levende Poeters Klub" and so forth

As they have stated, the media library currently sucks. They know it sucks. It will not continue to suck by the time they release the final version of winamp 3. I would not be surprised if editing is possible from both the media library and the playlist however.

Oh! Of course! I wanted to say that access would be from ML and PL. Its obvious doin it this way.
