i was just watching the learning ch, they had this dude doing street magic (thats what it was called) this guy just levitated off the ground like almost a foot. WTF???? he did it on the street in like a bunch of diffrent places. they were selling some magic kit.

he does all this stuff which no-one has a feckin clue what he is doing. once, he went up to this bum, and gave him a lucky coin (dunno how big the coin was). he told the bum to go and get a scratch card and scratch off the panel with thew lucky coin. so he did, and, to everyone's amazment, the bum won $10,000. now that, is feckin strange.

But can he turn Michael Jackson black again? That's the real test of a magician.

I think a better test for a magician is to make Tony Blair come back to the UK!

he does the levitation using a camera trick. At first, iit is the camera angle as he uses one foot to push away from the ground, then the camera cuts, and he uses some piece of machinery to get up the rest of the way (the 'audience' is fake after the cut)

david blaine, although a new form of magic, it's still all an illusion. the audience ont he shows are fake, and the magic he does is just plain ol' fahsioned illusions. i tend to ignore magic, because whenever i see a trick, i don't think "wow, how the flying f*ck did he do that", i think "where did he hide the stuff". similar to watching movies. i don't watch the movies for the storyline, i watch movies to find mistakes. moohahah

im with you i dont know how the fu** he did it, and id like to know, osme ones gotta know the answer.

He performed the Balducci Levitation in front of a gullible member of the public, filmed the incredulous reaction, then off-camera asked the person if they would like to see how it was done, and then repeated the trick using wires. This was the version we saw on TV, intercut with the gullible punter's reaction the first time around.

I would post a link to a page showing how to do Balducci's Levitation, but from my google search they're either pay-access :igor: or currently maxed out by (I assume) winamp forum members trying to find out how it was done:D .

i started picturing the "making of 'such and such'" movie which makes me zone out on the plot and picture the scale models they use for explosions, green screens for backdrops and the extreme ammount of makeup and airbrushing done to actors and actresses.
i shouldn't have seen the making of planet of the apes or lotr before i seen the finished product. the 2001 planet of the apes sucked anyways, i preferred the "making" show.

just another illusionist, there's some sites detailing each of his new tricks on some sites already. most want you to buy a book of tricks he does and so forth though, including that levitating one. which i believe is a staged audience.
