contact lense wearers
today i went for my annual eye checkup and i decided to switch from frames to lenses. and about 10 minutes of trying to place the lenses in my eyes, i found out that contact lenses blow hard. im sitting here typing with blurry, blood-shot, irritated eyes. anywho, who all wears contacts in here. and if you do... give me some pointers on how to not phug up your eyes when trying put them on ;)
|
Trust me, it will get better with time. I just got contact lenses in august, and by the middle of september, it was second nature to me. I would sudjest putting them in the case at night the the same direction that they came off of your eyes so that you won't have to worry if it is inside-out or not.
About your blurry thing, I noticed that too when I first started. Give it a couple of weeks. If it is not better by then, you might want to go back to see your eye doctor. |
you get used to it
just like glasses:D thats what my parents say......... i need glasses myself but i havn't gone to get a prescription minor short sightedness;) |
I've been wearing lenses for 4 years
I does get better!! The blurryness is just while your eyesight gets used to having the lense now bang on your eye instead of and inch away in your frames. I still get it but only if a haven't worn my contacts in weeks and weeks and swap back from frames to contacts again. I'm just lazy at putting them in!! :p Once your eyes are used to them they'll be fine!! |
I tried lenses just a few weeks ago.
I swear the person who was with me was a progessional eye-popper or something because she was doing all this crazy stuff with her eye. I personally couldn't even get it in my eye without even spazing out. |
thanx for the tips... i can now get my lenses in and out pretty quickly and painlessly. just have to overcome the "wink-factor" as my optometrist said he's PSYCHO I TELL YA!
anywho... the blurriness only happens when i look at something far away then something up close. guess i shoulda eaten my carrots :hang: |
i'm also a pro at taking them in and out, even surprising the doc with my amazing ability.
whats definetly worse than not getting the contact in, is when the contact won't come out or goes deep in behind... ewww even worse is watching someone else try to pick it out. only problem i have now is that i tear too many myself. i have rather cheap soft "normal" non-toric lenses that supposed to last 3 weeks, the office tells me they can go an easy 6 weeks. too bad i'm rough and they tear in like one day or 2 weeks... depends how pissy i am. **sigh**... i go through boxes so fast. |
You tear them? Whatcha got, talons?
I wear disposables and have for about 12 years. 6 weeks easy and the convenience of being able to sleep, shower, and swim in them is awesome. Lasik here I come though. |
Here here, Laser surgery is really the way to go. I'm waiting till i'm twenty five to get it... dont want to interfere with anything still growing (even a little) - my profession depends on my eyesight.
I have considered getting the cosmetic dollar sign contacts... just for fun :) |
contacts piss me off, when i hadmy glasses stolen on new years i was waiting 4 new glasses and i tried my old contacts. it took me like 20 mins to get one in and then i got the second in straight away and it had a bubble in it, i took it out, looked at it, it was the correct way so i put it back in and the bubble was there, i took it out popped it around thinking i mustv been wrong and it still had an air bubble. i clicked and threw it on tha ground, ripped the other one out pegged it and left with shitter vision than b4. why the fuk did they have a bubble in it?

I wear contacts, and have for about 6 years! I love them. I use the disposable kind. I pop them in my eyes, and 2 weeks later I take them out and throw them away. Like Chev, I sleep with them in, swim, do everything.
When I first started wearing contacts I used to have to take them out every night and put them back in every morning. If I fell asleep with them in, I would wake up with my eyes burning. That got old very fast. I am too lazy to take them out everyday and have to clean them. I order mine from 1800CONTACTS. They are cheaper than at my eye doctors. ~ Missy |
Has anyone heard of, or tried "the see clearly method"?
http://www.seeclearlymethod.com/ Their theory is that if you can exercize and improve your body, then why not also your eyes; they state that they have developed certain methods that can be undertaken everyday, and will strengthen and correct your vision- let me know what you think..... |
I heard about the See Clearly Method on the radio a few times.
It sounds good  |
hmm i thought you couldn't since poor vision is the result of irregular eye shapes. besides the whole old age problems...
a little google searching and seen the "see clearly method" posted (as spam) on many public forums. makes me wonder even more. |
ugh, I've tried contacts before. They're definately not for me. After wearing them for a few weeks, I think I have a scratched cornia. Now whenever I put them in, they're extremely scratchy and makes my right eye water like hell. I'm trying to remind my mom to make another appointment with my eye doctor. I really don't think it's worth it for me to take the time to put them in, when I can just slip on my glasses when I need them.

The most common reason for poor-vision is that the muscles that stretch the lens have become weak. So yeah, execrsising it does help.
