Is there a program to create tracks on full cd mp3 files?
I have a lot of mp3 files that are one long DJ mix, approximately 650 - 700 mb files once converted to .wav. Is there any programs that can add track breaks to long mp3/wav files (without creating breaks in the music). Currently, it only shows one track on the cd.

yeh,i need to know this too

Well, after you convert it to a wav file, you should be able to split the wav file using any sound editor at all. (You could even use Sound Recorder, but it would be a big hassle.)
Then, just use your favorite CD writer to write the new WAVs onto a CD in the correct order. There should be an option in your burning software to write tracks without pauses. I'm pretty sure that there is such an option in Nero, though I can't check right now because it's not installed on my computer anymore. By the way, if you already have the files separated, you should be able to immediately write them. You shouldn't need to make one large WAV and then split it. All that does is give you the original files again. Just burn them gapless. |
whoops, wait,i know how to do that,i misread his post...i need to know how to record an entire cd so that it comes out in one track, sorry bout that...

Insomniac, just convert all your files into wavs, then join them with any editor. You can easily do this in Sound Recorder.
Then, just burn the new one onto a disk. |
Thanks Curious George. Can you recommend a sound editor (other than sound recorder) or is this something I can do right in Winamp?
|
Hmm. I don't have a whole lot of experience with audio editors, so I'll just bump this and hopefully someone will name a few of the good ones. I'd name some, but I don't want to misinform you.

I use SoundForge pretty extensively for messing around with sound files. I can't remember if they have a demo/trial on their site, but it's definately worth a shot.
WaveStudio (Comes in most Creative sound card software packages) is great for your purpose, suibe, if all you need to do is that. You'll have to decode the file (use DiscWriter.dll as winamp's output .dll or use CDex), edit the wav there, then re-encode to mp3 using your favorite encoder. |
ok,im downloading sound forge right now

Thanks Phisherman, thanks Curious George. Hm... sorry, I'm new to all this. I know how to convert mp3 to wav, but can't figure out the reverse, wav to mp3. Can I do this in Winamp?
...thanks for all the helpful info. |
download CDex. It has all the tools you need to convert WAVs and CD tracks into Mp3s, and best of all it's FREE! :)

Thanks Bizznatch! :D

Check out what is available in Sound Forge. If it is anything like WaveLab then all you need to do is load in the large Mp3, add track markers and burn. If you want to change the running order then you will need to chop it up and stitch it back together as C_G suggests, or you could get your head around Cue Sheets and do it that way.
If you already have a copy of Nero, or most burning software if it comes to that, there is a simple wave editor built in that will do the cut and stitch, but not sure about track markers and generating cue sheets. There are Cue Sheet editors available anyway that you can use in conjuction with programs like Nero. CueEd2000 is one such. Feurio is another very good free prog that will do what you want. It is a ripper/player/burner that will do just about anything you can think of with audio CDs. Good Luck UJ |

Use SoundForge and put all songs to one track... :weird:
But it's very sick work... I think there are better 'n' easier programs to do that stuff... |
Thanks for all the information. Sound Forge doesn't look like it has freeware. I have downloaded CDex. I can only get it to load music from cd, not from my hard drive. Any suggestions on how to get the songs from the hard drive?

you can load it when you convert to WAV i think
