u dont!!

u draw what is sposed to be behind the buttons, on the buttons:D

only wa3 suports trans in componants

in Gimp, PS and PSP with layers:

have the background on layer 1 and the ctual buttons on layer 2 (layer 2 is on top) :D

hmmm on top...

also you can make semi-transparent buttons.. like [shameless selfpromotion]the pl buttons in the woodshop when you click on them[/shameless selfpromotion]
