mini disc recording
 

Anyone know of any good software that I use to playback and record from my mini-disc player after it has been plugged into the line-in port on my soundcard?

Seriously, get this and do this:

That'll play your input, to record it, go to Options >> Preferences, select the Plugins/Output thingy on the left, and select the Nullsoft Diskwriter plugin. Click Configure to select where you want to save the output as a WAV file. Use LAME to encode the WAV to mp3 (if you want) and there you go!

Don't think you will need any software for playback, it should just play when you switch the minidisc on. Make sure you have the mixer turned to line in.
Just about any CD ripping and burning software will record for you, even Winamp will do it.
Try a few and see what you like.

This is going sound stupid. But I can not get the Disk writer plugin to work. I have selected the plugin, changed the directory and set to save to WAV but I am stuck after this.

Any ideas

That should be it. Did you check the mixer ?
Have a poke around in Tech Support Greatest Hits > Common problems and questions(2nd tread on the list).

WinAmp is not ideally suited to this sort of thing, try EAC or CDex instead.

i have this thing called Meraci MD Recorder where you can seperate the tracks 2 seconds apart so the MD player will read them as seperate tracks. if you have a LP MD player,then you won`t need this. email me if you want it because it is too large for an attachment.
