WinAmp remote with mouse support

Maybe they have this in WA3, but if they don't, I would wish for a sofware remote for WinAmp. I have a plug-in now that puts an array of playback buttons in the icon tray, which works fine. I just think it would be cool to have WinAmp do stuff with unused mouse button - shift key combinations.

1) There would have to be a way to temporarily and longer-term enable/disable the mouse support.
2)Would have to leave right and left-click alone, which leaves at least <Shift>, <Ctrl>, and <Alt> modifiers (3) x at least 2 mouse buttons = 6. If you use one combination for play/pause and one combination to cycle through the various shuffle/repeat combinations, you have all of the buttons in the WinAmp Main window. This is good for running WinAmp in the background. To make it really work right, I would like to see playlist support.

3) End users could configure their own keyboard hotkeys if there were a small program that could pass instructions to WinAmp to push buttons or do certain things from the program's command line switches.

Go search for plugins. There are some horkeys plugins, may be there are some key/mouse/joystick/whatever plugins.

Have you tried using Remote Selector (from http://www.visualdomain.net). OK, so you have to pay for it :( (and that's because it's mainly to allow people to use hardware decoder cards for DVDs Region Free), but I guess the author has to make a living somehow.

Tucked away amongst the features is the ability to control Winamp - either with a remote control or the keyboard (or you can use both).

It supports alot of remotes (from the a generic Windows IR remote, to non-standard ones, such as the Creative dxr remote).

It's a pretty neat bit of software (although possibly not worth the money if you don't need the regionfree DVD playback)

Sorry if this sounds like a blatent advert/plug - it's not meant to; I'm not the author, just a user that's happy with the product :)

Here's the answer to part of your prayers and mine too. I had the same dream but getting tired of finding, so I decided to take a crack at it...

Hey, you mouse + combination key ideas are not bad. I will try to add it in the next release of Winamp Keypad.
