Hello, I am new

Just thought I would take the time to say hello to everyone in the boards. I have browsed the boards for some time now. Hope to help others out or whatever:)

fwgx 29th January 2002 15:53

Welcome dude! Hope you enjoy it here. The usual lot will be here with the welcomming band, hope you like it here. :)=

Thank you for joining our merry band!

Merlin 29th January 2002 16:13

I couldn't find the band, so I hired a DJ:

Merlin 29th January 2002 16:22

Aha! Found the smilin' buggers.

Here they are:
http://imbiss-coding.de/smiliez.de/s...srtrts_188.gif

And the backing dancers:

Unless, of course, you wanted a concert:

Or this whole thing could just be going a bit far.

Those were the bastards I couldn't find. Comparing them to the ones I posted, I decided the traditional combination of guitarist, drummer, vocalist is more suitable than guitarist, cellist and drummer.
IMO.

TheMilhouseMan 29th January 2002 18:10

I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcoming. I tried adding a signature on here if it does show up it should be milhouse. If you know of a place to find a small but more lively pic of him will you let me know. thanks alot

I see it doesn't work what is a good server to upload my imagine on that will alot me to link to it since geocities sucks.

Vie 29th January 2002 18:20

It's not a cello, but a stand-up bass. ;)

rm' 29th January 2002 18:27

Double bass, string bass... take your pick. Just not "Stand-up bass" :p;)

Bop 29th January 2002 18:32

I prefer the slap bass, when I'm feeling rambunctious. ;)

rm' 29th January 2002 18:34

Well, there is always "That great big fat and long thing that makes jazz musicians happy" for when you're feeling extra rambunctious :D

lil vixen 29th January 2002 18:36

Whatever it is, you don't get them in a rock band. Should have stuck with the DJ...

rm' 29th January 2002 18:58

They occasionally get used in Ska, or some other odd genre like that.

CutsyKitty 29th January 2002 19:02

I looked in Winamp, and all of those are available settings in the ID3 tag genre box, so somebody must like 'em.

rm' 29th January 2002 19:20

A Capella is instrumental music without instruments... using your voice to make neat and funky sounds. Chanson, I believe, is choral stuff.

Bop 29th January 2002 19:31

Actually A Capella is any singing without instrumentation- doesn't necessarily have to be funky sounds.

rm' 29th January 2002 19:38

I never said weird :)

Bop 29th January 2002 19:41

Neither did I. :)

rm' 29th January 2002 19:44

Loser :p

Funky has different meanings to different people. Funky does not always equate to "weird". Funky can mean cool, messed up, retarded, and so on.

Bop 29th January 2002 19:48

That's it punk, I've had enough. You've been mouthing off long enough!

I can think of two rock bands that use an upright bass:
Stray Cats...
http://www.rockabillyhall.com/original.jpg
and Sting when he was with The Police,
which by the way was the same setup as the
Offical Winamp Forums Welcome Band,
drums, guitar, and upright bass.

Merlin 29th January 2002 19:51

I hate smartasses.

:D

I'll edit that post to say you don't get them in a good rock band.;)

Bop 29th January 2002 19:55

I love smartasses, one time I sat down with an ass and had a really long converstaion about its ingenious backside, it was quite intriguing. Everything was going well but then it let out a huge one in my face- damn smartass!

rm' 29th January 2002 19:58

Don't be mistaken, not all asses are smart. Ever hear about Balem's Ass? He wasn't very smart at all.

Ska? Stand up basses? Not really. And ska isn't odd. It's just misunderstood.

Primus is a band, with such a unique sound, that the person who implemented ID3 just added it as a Genre, since they really can not be placed in a specific genre. Download a Primus song, any one, and you'll see what I mean. Chanson is chanting, and Acapella is using your voice as an instrument. Barbershop quartets, and the like.

In Geocities, rename the file from milhouse.jpg to milhouse.txt. Then, in Winamp, change the signiture to match milhouse.txt.

It'll work.

Bop 29th January 2002 20:06

Balem's ass was an dumbass because for a while it had the word of God, and never exploited it to become KING ASS!

WolfieD, now there's a smartass. :D
