messages ... something like .. ahem ... need help
well,
i'm using litestep www.litestep.net the greatest shell ever. and i want to use bangcommands to control wa3. but there's no module out yet. but i know how to control wa1 through messages ... as followed: *Send PLAY "WinAmp v1.x" 40045 *Send STOP "WinAmp v1.x" 40047 *Send PAUSE "WinAmp v1.x" 40046 *Send OPEN "WinAmp v1.x" 40029 *Send PREVIOUS "WinAmp v1.x" 40044 *Send NEXT "WinAmp v1.x" 40048 so if i use "!send play" message "40045" is sent to wa1 i dont know if it works with wa2.x. but if there's someone out knowing the "messages" for wa2 and wa3 please let me know. thx.mtp-no1 |

ups seems like this was the wrong post in here! i just want to make a theme that EVERYBODY can use perfectly no matter which audioplayer he uses. though i prefer and use winamp 2.x only but if someone thinks mediaplayer rocks as hell its his choice. but i think i should look for an forum that accepts other players.
thanks for your so great help.mtp-no1 |

Winamps API/plug-in interface is very flexable and allows other executable code (e.g plug-ins or your shell) to execute functions that you would normally through its native interface. This means that any application that has this message passing interface can be controlled by your shell...phew! For example to open the file dialog for winamp 2: *Send OPEN "WinAmp v1.x" 40029 should work in your shell. "WinAmp v1.x" is the name of the window (wa2 uses v1.x for backward compatability) and 40029 is the message to pass. So instead of asking us for messages now you can find your own on developer sites! Hopw this helps! |
FYI...
The Winamp 2x Messages are already listed in: http://www.winamp.com/nsdn/winamp2x/dev/sdk/api.jhtml The Winamp 2x Plugin Manager for Winamp 3 as of yet does not support all of these... however it will once all the same functionality is available in the Winamp 3 SDK. |

as soon as I get rid of real...MS is my next target:D |
agreed :)

The only reason I liked Real Player, at least before "Real Juan" (pronoucned "Real One")was because it told me with video decoders I need to watch my movies, WiMP never did that.
[Insert actual Post here] I need the plugin manager for W3(vorbis, midi wave), the site only has a *.wac and all I get is a new icon in my thinger and a window that does nothing much. [/End of post] Anyone have a copy? |
That only adds the:
"Double click to toggle" & "Use limited format detection" but its a start....wanted the vorbis;), and other stuff too. |

You could give up now. I think I figured out what he's doing. For now you guys better stop linking to that page because all the plugins are not functional yet with the way he is organizing them.
Right now he is organizing them into seprate component windows, so with the two *.wac you gave me I now have: "Winamp 2x Plugin Manger" & "Winamp v2.x input plug-in support" compared with the plugins as they were before with no components windows, (See screen shot). Eventually I guess he would work all the input plug-ins into wacs that work in the component windows for butter functionallity and easy install/removal like the script manager. Thanks for the help.... [edit] bad screen shot...sorry [/edit] |
PP's winamp 2 input support is accesable through the components menu
RTFM in the zip |
Thanks guys,
I know nothing about plugins but my concern would be with the managment of W3 plug-ins. I guess the 2X manager would handle them for install/removal. But if a plug-in is in the config window and it does not work with someones comp or causes conflicts. Then that person would most likely want to remove it all together to avoid someone else tinkering and checking it off and damage their comp. I just feel that all plug-ins should be easily removable and managable (except standard ones)whether they are 2x or 3x. |

As for WA3 and LiteStep: I don't know a lot about this, but I DO know that the version of Geekamp I have pretty much supports WA3. Haven't tried them all, but the commands (not listing COMMANDS though) I know work are volume, prev/next, pause, stop, play, open. Using the power command while WA3 is open does nothing; of course while it's closed, WA2 will open. Yeah.. that's pretty much it. I haven't even tried any of the other modules (I think there's a grdamp, but the site has been down for quite a while, methinks) but this should be the latest version of Geekamp... Blah. I'm tired. Wonder how coherent that paragraph^ actually is. Ciao. |

In the case of DSP plugins, it also allows you to select the one which you would like to be active. Thats it. If you don't want a certain plugin to be loaded, you have to delete it. Thats how it worked in Winamp 2x, thats how it has to work here. |
Thanks schweitn, and others.
Now I know a bit more about plug-ins for 2x and 3x. |
