I want a Mac

Is that so wrong? I just want one. Not a fruity iMac but a Power PC G4 with all the trimmings.

whiteflip 3rd February 2002 04:46

power books are nice but i hate laptops. after having one as a main pc i got sick of it, tiny key board tiny screen non upgradeable

why do you hate macs? they never did anything to you so why do you hate them. did a mac hit you once or steal your girlfriend?

Me too but i'm not going to get it because it's expensive and I need features that are available only in PCs (linux for example:))

i think the new os x thing, while based on unix, is way fruity. too much color/shading. its a computer, not an art project, thanks.

i love macs. but i am not made of money.

i hate macs. they piss me off. why are tey so fruity? and the g4's suck too. we have to use them in a computer lab at uni, and they would crash constantly. brand new fucking computers. al powerful and stuff. we would get through about a page and a half of Maple computations then it would die, and you would lose all your work. ill take a pc, thank you. OH and i hate that goddam circular mouse! it is a bad mouse, and it has but one button. also, the optical mice for the g4's lick ass too, because the whole body of the mouse is the button, and if you rest your hand on it it clicks something. i hate macs./ plus, i hate the os. and, why do they have to make increasingly bubble looking computers? they are ugly.

RE: Mouse

Get an MS Optical. It's USB, so you can use generic drivers to run it on a mac.

henry3k56 3rd February 2002 06:23

I just want a computer that looks like a Mac, but contains all the fixings of a real PC.:D I like their designs, but not their OS interface.

KelseyB 3rd February 2002 06:28

macs are allright, buti dont like em because they dont make enough programs for em. yah, the hardware is GREAT (ie, chipsets and stuff like that), but... (this has been said before) if there were more major programs made for amcs, and more good programs made exclusively for macs, then the statistics of ownership would flip. not instantly, but quick enough. its merely a convience issue.

well, there is another reason... one really did hit me... more like fell on me from about 3 feet above me. luckily i was bendoing over to pick somehting up, so it fell on my back, but this was a while ago, and it was an old apple IIe. heavy ass mofo. hurt for like a week. but thats beside the point.

my pointless, meaningless 2cents..

rm' 3rd February 2002 06:31

You can use a Windows emulator to level the software playing field.

KelseyB 3rd February 2002 06:40

eh, but they arent perfect yet. and i dont have a mac to run em :)

whiteflip 4th February 2002 23:18

they have versions of the linux kernel that runs on macs

macs are great for cad so they are built artsy to reflect that. the G4's with the circular mouse sucks ass, the new G4's with the real mouse kinda work it depends how you set your mac up and how much you baby it. its like windows, if you baby it wrong it crashes.

henry3k56 5th February 2002 01:13

You know you can use Mac's version of the optical mouse for PC. Its possible, we plugged in the keyboard and the mouse to a PC, and it worked fairly the same you use a mouse. Installed some drivers, and it functioned.

so, you can spend more money on a mac, wjich looks shite, has a crap mouse just so you can get mklinux on it, for the sole purpose of ruunning a windows emulator. am I missing someething?

whiteflip 6th February 2002 00:54

yeah, your penis.
