wma's ?
i know that winamp 3 beta only officially supports mp3,wav and cda, so u know i have read the FAQ. Unfortunately while i was without a decent player with a media library i was using WMP 7, and because of it's "conveniance" burnt about 50 CD's off my mates using it. I now have a phat stack of tunes that i can't play on winamp 3.
the question is, does anyone know of a plugin someone has written for winamp 3 to decode wma's (people have done it for vorbis etc), and if not do you know if it is possible to use one of the winamp 2 plugins and port it into winamp 3 using one of those programs? cheers fools |
try these plugins
Input Plug-ins - Peter's Winamp3 Plug-ins (Full) - Peter's Winamp3 Plug-ins (Lite) These plug-ins are updated often. If you have problems try checking for an update. All of these are updated to work with Beta2.5 Output Plug-ins - Peter's output plug-in This component encodes files using built in codecs.... Vorbis (.ogg) LAME (.mp3) and APE (.ape) are included (access to this component is via the thinger) (this plug-in has been downgraded to work with beta 2.5) @ http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....threadid=70177 |

or you can get a media library plugin (in beta) for winamp 2. looks don't matter, it works pretty good imho.

It won't but, winamp2 will ;) Connect the dots d00d
Don't if these links work, supposed wma plugin for winamp 2+, you could also use winamp 3 with the 2+plugin manager I suppose, but that is a little more trouble. http://home.wanadoo.nl/~w.speek/down...A%20plugin.zip http://digilander.iol.it/lzpsite/mpegaudio/in_wm.zip |
(sigh...)
I don't think he understood what I was trying to say... YOu don't need any plugins in 2.xx to play .wma files. That's a given, as long as you get the full install. I was saying that a media library plugin by itself wouldn't allow him to play .wma files. As of right now, I'd either stick to wa 2.xx to play .wma files, use in_wma.dll from the 2.xx install with Peter's 2.xx plugin interpreter to play in winamp3, or, best of all, don't use .wma. Use vorbis. - Jarsonic |
cheers
should sort out the problems, and i now i do get to use the joys of a properly skinned program! looking forward to further developments |

As I understand the original poster wanted something that a) had a media library b) could play wma, c)wasn't windows media player. Winamp 2+ (wma plugins if needed) with a media library plugin satisfies those requirements right? |
