Dude. I honestly can't believe that you can't understand this. Those highlights/shadows/gradients are lighter and darker shades of the current background colour that he used. That's what a gradient is. It goes from one colour to another by changing shades.

Yea I get it. Oh well. I guess if I really needed too, I'd spend the time doing it too.
