avatar problem......

When I go to change my avatar , I load a 48X34 gif file, I hit Submit, but the error comes : The file you selected is larger than 50X50. WHAT TO DO ?
plz help me

My ISP failed to announce me that u replied (mail didn't come).
I made it.. is it cool ?
But now i saw on the net another one, but it's GIF and too lage
how can i make it smaller ?
