how do .Plans work?
 

I was reading Justin's .Plan, and he spoke of updating the .Plan with his cell phone.

how does this worK? I would like to implement something of the sort on my website, but do not know how.

The most straightforward way is to use a WAP phone and have some WAP pages on your site (which can be served by a normal HTTP server) with forms that you can fill in. Then feed the form to a CGI / mod_perl / PHP script to update your .plan.

If you don't have a WAP phone and/or don't want to do WAP pages, you need a cellular provider with the SMS-to-mail service. Then you can use SMS to send an e-mail to a certain account on your server. Then you write some mail processing script that receives this e-mail and update the .plan.
