Problems when playing mpeg-2 video files

I have an xp machine with a p3 500 and when i try to play mpeg-2 video files the play is not able to tell the differnce between the standard extensions for mpeg-2 movie files. (.mpg .mp2, except .mpeg2) When I do get mpeg-2 video files to play the audio is rather skipish ("George Bush word") and chop during play back but the video is fine. the other thing is that the video falls out of sync with the audio. I'm also unable to scale the video beyound it's origanal size.

Winamp3 supports mpeg-2 as long as you have the components already installed.

Jarsonic what do you think I said. I can play them but it's not desireable in it's playback. Just to let you know my DVD program I use is cyberlink Power DVD. Which has no problem with my mpeg-2 files.

OK this may be a very dumb question, but... How do you play video files with WA3? just catching up with what is being said in the forums and i had no idea that this was possible.

Just insert them into your playlist. Also, PowerDVD XP / v4 seems to be fine with MPEG-2 now. No more skips and bumps and audio weirdness. Maybe try the new version for yourself and see if it helps.

I have the latest and greatest version of PowerDVD so that should't be a problem.

got the same prob on a p3 500 runnin 98se. certian mpeg2 videos loose synch with their audio. yet others work fine and all of them run great in media player. hell winamp is running media player through itself and skinning it too so i just figured that it was unoptimized code in video.wac or my pc was just too slow...

I get the same thing. Also, when I play an mpeg 2 in winamp, the actual video frame isnt alligned to the actual video, so I have to move it and resize it until it shows the video.

Imagine that there is a video playing underneath my desktop image and the video window in winamp is like x-ray goggles, so I need to move the video window to the right place to see the video. I also can't goto fullscreen when running an mpeg2.
