Snow in Seattle
Since I have a five day weekend thanks to cancellations and I am going to get bored I am sure. I decided to create this thread just to enlighten the others in our world of the snow we got during spring break in seattle.
Schools are closed  and there are already been over 100 crashes since it came. I have a small picture of Redmond below. Redmond for those who don't know is MS headquarters and is often considered a subburb of Seattle (technically its own city). http://www.drakesland.com/snow.jpg [edit]Although it looks like there isn't that much snow on this road. This is a HIGHWAY with onramps, etc. and it has been plowed. The thing is, it was plowed last night and now the slush is all ice.[/edit] Now what is so frustrating about all of this, is how the national news concentrated on snow in Salt Lake City (like thats new) and ignored the fact that Seattle hasn't gotten snow this time of year in over a decade. I am sure all the other Seattle and Washington State people are happy because either their school is most likely cancel or they can't get to work since the ice is so bad. |
I'm Just North of you on the other side of the Canada/US border, and we got a small dump (of snow) too. Do you find that the weather pattern has changed around here? It seems that all the seasons are starting a week or two latter than they used too.
PS. For all you Americans, no we don't get a lot of snow here, in fact it has only snowed for a total of about 5 or 6 days this year!!!:) |
We have a second home on Vancouver Island and I heard they got snow a couple days before us since the cold air the clouds went from north to south.
Your are totally right that Canada doesn't get any more snow that Seattle when it comes to Vancouver. Also Canada gets more sun in the summer than Seattle. Seattle gets a lot more rain in June than Vancouver. That is part of the reason we have a second home up north is because during the summer it is nicer up there and usually sometimes a bit warmer. Odd but I don't mind. |
I live right around where it snowed. The funny thing is, where we live, Kent, was like the only place that didn't get snow.
|
Ya I heard about that. I talked to my Grandma who lives in Sea-Tac and she got no snow. The cut-off was somewhere near Renton I believe.
|
Wow, is it actually news to get snow in Seattle? Nobody really makes much of a deal of it here. Of course local TV does, but they do about everything. I have memories of snow on Easter Sunday when I was a kid. We had an egghunt in it. It was harder to find under the snow.

Obviously you have never seen Seattle. Seattle gets snow maybe twice a year and never as late as March. So if you get snow during Easter where you live that is great but obviously you live in a place that gets snow a lot.

Snow! Can I have some?
