New Skin - Unnamed

1 Attachment(s)
I know, I know, I can't stop!

I need to know what to do with the VIS/Time Display area (notice how it's not skinned? :)). Dunno what to do with it...

And I need a name for this, if it ever lifts off.

Any other suggestions and criticism are appreciated

lisaanddaz 12th March 2002 23:47

Your detail wipes me out man, i have no idea what to call it, i was thinking of something like tracker or scan something along those lines (pun intended):) its gonna be a good skin whatever you call it:up:

i think the vis should be a solid block of the same green and make the vis white and the same green to give it a dotted effect similar to the line under the pos bar

Atmo 13th March 2002 00:00

Do you ever take a break cleanup??? :p

I like the color usage on this one...reminds me of the good old teal theme from windows 3.11...it didnt look as good as this tho...lol

For a sec i thought it looked a little to much like your last one, but its actually quite different...i like the 1 pixel line style..maybe do something different with the cbuttons to make this one a real standout...

As for the vis area, maybe do what lisaandaz said, but try it in lines instead of a solid block...would look good either way tho...

Cleanup 13th March 2002 00:01

I can do the dots in the VISCOLOR.txt, but okay. I've never done a separated VIS before. :)

Cleanup 13th March 2002 00:02

Argh, I'm not gonna do anymore tonight, I'm gonna go to bed. :igor:

lisaanddaz 13th March 2002 00:04

to do a seperated vis you just use two colours on the viscolor.txt file

0,255,0, // Analyzer ----------this is the bit you see
0,255,0, // Analyzer
0,0,0, // Analyzer ----------this is your background

Seperated vis looks good, sometimes, im using seperated vis on the robnation skin cos it looked to plain without it, and on a skin with detail like this the blank area in between the vis and numbers would stand out...

chiquita chad 13th March 2002 01:55

call it "perpetual cold"

it sends chills down my spine when i look at it
good work

Cleanup 13th March 2002 02:59

Nice, Keetah, I think I'll use that one.

I'll work on this thing tomorrow, but tomorrow I have to work too. Nuts. :(

DragonsKindler 13th March 2002 04:05

i used a seperated vis on my last skin it looks hot and stads out but i found most ppl use fire style and thats when it looks like crap :(

PeaceMaker 13th March 2002 04:07

id incorporate the cluter bar into the vis number area.

Atmo 13th March 2002 04:18

i agree with peacemaker, the clutterbar would look good like that...

Okay, updated a few more things, skinned the VIS and Time Display...

What do you think?

Cleanup 13th March 2002 17:28

Mm, I've just noticed, Caz and I have very similar skinning styles. :weird:

Cleanup 13th March 2002 21:50

Anyone out there? :weird:

Atmo 13th March 2002 21:57

Nice work cleanup, i like the look of the vis area/clutterbar

I wouldnt change a thing so far...:D

caz 13th March 2002 21:58

lol thanx :D - I'll take that as a compliment. Minimalistic, (did I spell that right? :igor: ) but detailed (does that make sense? lol) is my preferred style - I've done a lot of skins of my own that I never published, usually in that style, although I like doing pic skins too :D

Gateway To Heaven was my first sorta none 'flat' skin - and I dunno if I like how it turned out lol :D - zpworld is a prime example of how I skinned in the 'early' days lol :D

Cleanup 13th March 2002 22:04

How long've you been skinning for, Caz?

I've been skinning for about three months now.

Say, how long does it take for a skin to be published at Deviant? I'm thinking of joining.

caz 13th March 2002 22:07

I think the first skin I did was about 5 - 6 months ago :D not very long huh? - by 'the old days' I meant when I first started lol.

My first skin was based on Sonic Adventure 2 - and I did that when the game was first released so....you do the maths :D but I didnt really start reading the forums until recently.

I had already done 2 - 3 skins before reading em too. (SA2, MPayne and KnuckleAmp)

(A lot of the skin sI start dont get finished, thats why I have a 'limited supply' lol)

At Deviant the skin submits as soon as you click the 'send' button :D - I usually submit em there then change the link when they finally get thru to winamp.com

Atmo 13th March 2002 22:11

cleanup/caz :

Did either of you do any skinning of other stuff b4 winamp??

caz 13th March 2002 22:15

No. :D

But I did do a lot of designing (like at school and stuff)
I also did Signature Design (I had a site once too...I miss it :()
I did the 'sig' design thing for the friends I had on Unreal Tournament (mostly the ones
who I spoke to in the ezboard forums, and my fellow clan members :D), thats how I learnt the ins and outs of PSP.

Cleanup 13th March 2002 22:18

No.

But I had started a little 'business' within my school last year. I made 400 x 400 stretchable desktop wallpapers for my friends.

Really, my friends gave me a title, and I tried to come up with something to fit it.

I do some for myself, in fact, most of them are for myself, my business died :D but some of the titles are:

Blue Rain

Shadows

Speed

Firestorm

As soon as you click Submit!!! DevArt here I come! :D

Atmo 13th March 2002 22:24

I think i might join devart too :D

I've been skinning for about 4 months or so and my first submitted skin still hasnt been published..:weird:

Cleanup 13th March 2002 22:26

Hmm, with DevArt:

Must you have a running screenshot of the skin? Or just a skeleton?

caz 13th March 2002 22:33

just a ss really... it doesn't matter how you take the picture - I usually just use the skeleton from the zip file.

click on golden hiroshima in my sig to give you an idea - This is how im gonna present mine from now on...it looks more proffesional :D I think anyway :D

Cleanup 13th March 2002 22:34

Hey, that's the skin I gave you the name for.

No credit?? Hehe. :D

caz 13th March 2002 22:40

lol was it you? - bad memory :D didnt I mention you in the credits? sorry! I though I did - I think I mentioned all who helped in the readme though. sorry!! :D

Cleanup 13th March 2002 22:41

Hehe np :D

Cleanup 13th March 2002 22:50

Wow! Four people downloaded my skin within the first five minutes! I'm happy to get even one download.

Now I love DeviantArt. :D

Cleanup 14th March 2002 16:29

Argh. All right. I have no idea what to do for the EQ. Looks like I'm gonna scrap this.

Atmo 14th March 2002 16:50

Dont scrap it!!! At least not till you've tried a few different things with the eq....

Nini 14th March 2002 19:57

wow :D your detail kills me :p

But it's gonna get scrapped, probably..

Someone help me think of something for the EQ. I just can't keep doing the same thing over and over, e.q. the single-pixel-line thing.

Why not :p ? If it looks good...
You could probably do something like that above your vol/bal bars... Ok, it's 2 blue bars, but i think it doesn't look bad. Then you could put some single pixels on the one side, in a weird pattern. Does this sound good? :D

Cleanup 14th March 2002 20:22

Um. Rephrase? :weird: :D :igor:

I think I'm just going to do simple fill bars for the EQ bars.

Nini 14th March 2002 20:51

argh, my english is too bad, I see :D
I'll try to paint what I mean, with your permission :p. Wait a second.

Cleanup 14th March 2002 20:57

Knock yerself out.

Nini 14th March 2002 21:32

I'm loosing my patience now. :igor: Opera won't let me attach files and Netscape is damn slow and apparently it doesn't like PHP. Sigh.

So I uploaded it to my space.

http://home.arcor.de/nini_ta/sigs/tmpimg/cleanupsEQ.gif

I thought of something like this. Not perfect, and probably the BG wouldn't fit in. But you get the idea :)

Cleanup 14th March 2002 22:03

For the EQ bars? :D

It looks real nice, Nini. :D

Would this be a fill bar? Or a simple scroll bar?

Nini 14th March 2002 22:35

scroll bar? (lol)

this is exact the size of 1 eq bar, without the slider.:D
