Has anyone used AVG antivirus software?
Noticed it listed in the "Winamp Links of Interest" thread. I am thinking about downloading it to replace Norton, which came with my computer. Did a forum search and didn't find anything on it so I thought I'd ask here.

I've been using it for a while, it works well. It has found and killed three viruses in the six months that I have employed it.
GOOOOOOOO AVG!!!!! :) *just make sure to keep downloading the updates, usually one or two every week* |
I have been using it for several months after recommendation from Bilbo. It seems very good for a free system.

I use it and i like it. nice and unobtrusive.
Never found a virus, but then my machine hasn't died from a virus since i installed it. So i'm a happy with it. |
My Dad used to have it on his system, it appeared to be an efficient and solid program.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I downloaded and installed it last night. It was late when I posted and nobody had responded by then. Seems to be running fine. Got rid of Norton too, peice of sh!t that it is.
Interesting story about Norton: I had it running when I clicked on a link which sent me to infamous "Work Sucks" site. Norton identifies the code that the site runs as a virus and quarentines it. I'm not really willing to go there again with AVG see how it reacts.     |
I wouldn't get too excited, they seem like a bunch of clowns to me.
I'm looking for a new anti virus program now that InoculateIT is closing down, so I gave them a try. Downloaded the file, and received an e-mail from them, but with the serial number left blank. I mailed them back and received an answer saying that they were unable to help as there was no serial number. Idiots I'll try downloading again and see if they can get it right this time. UJ |
