Removing Visualization Plug-Ins.
Hiya.
I've been browsing the forums for about two hours now and haven't found the answer to my question. How do I remove a Visualization plug in? I deleted the folder where the plug in was, and clicked the "flush plug-in name cache" button, but Milk Drop is still there. Please reply if you know how to completely remove the plug-in. Thanks. |
You need to delete the .dll file that is milkdrop.
CTRL+P for pref's, select the visualisation tab, look over at what vis plugins you have installed, somewhere it'll show somewhere on the list the milkdrop plugin, followed by what file name it goes under, I'm guessing here it'll be something like vis_milk.dll or something similar. Goto your winamp plug in folder in windows explorer, usualy located at c:\program files\winamp\plugins Find whatever file it was called, vis_milk.dll or whatever it is, and simply delete that file. There may be other milkdrop file in there, but that is the one your looking for. |
All plugins (including the default ones) are .DLL files
All the .DLL files are in the Winamp\Plugins folder (not sub dir's). The actual Milkdrop plugin will have a name such as vis_milkdrop.dll or vis_md.dll (I've never tried it myself, so I'm not 100% sure of the filename . . . hmm . . . now why have I never tried Milkdrop before, me asks himself? lol) If you can't see any .DLL files, then you'll need to make them visible. By default, Windows treats .DLL files as "hidden files". Goto: Windows Folder Options -> View tab Checkmark: Show hidden files & folders ("show all files" under some OS's) UNCHECK: Hide extensions for known filetypes Then follow the instructions in the FAQ: RE: How do I remove 3rd-party plug-ins http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=26872 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=26610 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=35601 Be sure NOT to delete any of the default input & output plugins! |
Thanks!
Thanks for the answers! Although I feel I must clairify something.. I ment the R2 plugin. I like MilkDrop a bit too much to simply delete. ;)
Have a good one.. |
Stopping visualizations
Hey here's the answer.....It's either HAVE visualizations popping up every damned song, or DONT HAVE THEM AT ALL!!
Rip them out by the roots from your installed winamp folder (careful!) or watch them take over the screen every new song. Makes no sense to me; I love winamp with this exception, and yes I flushed the pretty lights for good. DJ Egg walks you through getting rid of "Milk-dud", for example, although it sounds as if he hasn't done it himself. Come see me and my tunes at www.serpentbrew.com in the meantime. Outta here! seethe,
To find out the vis plug-in location look at: Winamp-->Option-->Preferences-->Plug-ins Goto the directory and delete the relevant Dll's MilkDrop vis_milk.dll R2 vis_R2.dll R2 Extreme vis_R2E.dll NoyZBoy, I don't really understand what your problem is but maybe it is: Winamp-->Option-->Preferences-->Plug-ins and untick the auto-execute on play. If you wish to play a visual first play some much Winamp-->Option-->Preferences-->Plug-ins-->Visualization and select the one you want. And start it. Hope it all helps, Rovastar |

Oh, and yeah, like Rovastar says, just disable "auto execute vis plugin on play" in Prefs -> Plugins . . . lol :D |
