Well, and attacking such a small thing as defense for such a big thing is even more, well, you know.

jns 27th March 2002 09:38

Actually, those images are somewhat akin to the anti-jewish propaganda during World War 2.

Rovastar 27th March 2002 11:16

? WTF are you talking about jns?

These images are reprehensive of 'attacking propaganda' (used loosely) of an individual and his follows. Not attacking a race or recognised creed of people.

If you want a realistic analogy for WW2 it is allies 'propaganda' of Hitler and his followers.

Put things in perspective will you.

jns 27th March 2002 12:28

Well. But it IS somewhat akin to the kind of images they had all over germany back then, except this time it is not about jews.

Rovastar 27th March 2002 12:59

This is different in so many ways.

This is not an ethical cleansing propaganda campaign. At no point is it implying that you should hate groups of people because of the race or creed. That is the fundamental difference.

These images depicted bin laden in a bad light.

Remember that most of the western world is at WAR against this man and his organisation. Most think he is evil for his part in the September the 11th attacks - maybe you do not. These pictures simply say we are going to get YOU and your followers.

It is very different and I think you are belittling and downgrading the horrible WW2 persecution of the Jews by comparing these pictures with what happened then.

jns 27th March 2002 13:23

I still say they are SOMEWHAT AKIN to those.

That didn't make any sense at all. You think "defense" is a small thing, and spelling is a "big thing"? Maybe a little thought process before you post, might help. You know the old saying, "do not engage mouth, until brain is in gear". Of course, maybe that expression is not in the Swedish society.. sorry, I forgot about that... :blah:

Attack again. I would almost consider that a flame.
And if you actually read my post with your brain with you, you would have understood that the spelling mistake would be considered the small thing.. Now, please. Stop fighting.

nature spirit 27th March 2002 15:24

I think JNS didnt want to simply compare those silly pics to the propaganda of wwii. IMHO He was more of comparing the methodology.

stttafffy 27th March 2002 16:51

i thought most of them were dumb but the pic of the guy in the space suit was funny.

zootm 27th March 2002 18:10

ummm... i just have to say these may not constitute it, but there is a lot of propaganda throwing around right now.

it just seems like a mighty convienient time for the allied secret services to be finding out things like there might be ballistic weapon capability in a few of their target (yes, target) countries, and a funny time for the CIA to decide that their MIA agent in iraq (from 10! years ago) might still be there, alive...

they'd know this before, surely? and they are releasing it in such a way that it's not immediately obvious that the dissemination of information is timed to turn public hatred towards these countries.

gimme a P! gimme an R! gimme an O! ...

That is fucking ridiculous. Have you forgot 9/11 already? Did it occur to you, that all of this has come about, because WE ARE IN A WAR AGAINST TERRORISTS, BECAUSE THEY ATTACKED OUR COUNTRY?? Enhanced security, enhanced CIA, enhanced everyfuckingthing. Until they are all DEAD!!!!

He he! I don't really see why people should care if people make spelling errors. We all do it at some stage and the English (me included) do it quite alot aswell!
:igor:

Vie, your spelling errors keep me amused. For that i say thank you!
:D

ummm... quite.

all i said was that it was "conveniently" timed (or something).
what are you trying to defend?
do you doubt your government lies to you occasionally? they do.
do you doubt they withhold information to their (or your) interests? they do.

i'm not trying to say there's anything wrong with their war.

but they are being propagandic. no information is unbiased. have a clear head, son. the government may use propaganda, that doesn't mean they're necessarily all bad.

nature spirit 28th March 2002 06:58

for goodness sake. is there anyone simple-minded enough to believe that this is just a war against terrorism? wake-up plz. this whole comedy has gone too far. everything is well timed. After WWII, less and less events came as cause and effect schema. And definitely after the fall of the eastern clan, early 90's, everything is crammed into its place within the plan. zootm pointed some good examples about that; and for who studies and analyses modern history, the never ending lies of the American administration are not less obvious or evil than the ones of the communist regimes back in the cold war. I could say they are rather well made and promoted.

I fourth that. I have seen enough of this horseshit. Right now I`m wondering whether the US gov`t had any foreknowledge of these attacks, and if so, it is just as much their fault. Now I know Indyrod is giong to come at me with his soccer mom patriotism, but do you really know what these terrorists died for? All this that has happened is merely the art of war. You are exactly like all of those people over there torching American flags, except you are on the opposite side. This is exactly like football, politics, and anything else competitive. You have your own beliefs, they have theirs. You must respect that.

How on earth do you come to the conclusion that it is 'as much' the US government fault if they know beforehand this might happen?

If some crazy rings me up and say 'I am going to kill your family' is it then as much my fault as his if he kills them?

We do not know what they died for as they were too cowardice even say why they did it? So who actually knows why they died the terrorist organisations have never said 'I did this! Because of...'.Or maybe you have inside knowledge and know different.
If we do not know the cause (if there is one) how can we hope to solve it? How you can answer what are their beliefs is beyond me?

Most of the western world is at war against terrorism. Not the US against Arab/ Asian states or something. How many westerners go around burning flags from these countries, not many no doubt.

The entire western world is affected by this there are news reports that on Easter Sunday terrorist plan to blow up McD's restaurant in Italy. Why? as normal, we don't know. I do not 'respect' that at all and do not have too. At least the western world has to justify (to the voting public) way we are talking such action.

Noone claimed responsibility.
Actually, your government just pointed their fingers at bin ladin and said 'He did it. Let's have his heart for breakfast.', sort of.

Sure. Maybe he did, maybe not, that is not even relevant anymore, it has gone THAT far..

Rovastar 28th March 2002 11:36

In case you have forgotten the past 6-7 months.

Evidence was obtained then shown to most of the world's leaders and the conclusion was that he should stand trail. The taliban did not hand him over for some reason then he went into hiding then the US went after him.

My governemnt? It was most of them. What did Sweden's governnement say about it?

jns 28th March 2002 11:41

Oh really. What kind of evidence was this? I saw none of it.

Rovastar 28th March 2002 11:48

Of course not. That is why it is evidence. To be used in a court of law and then the lawyers can argue the case for both sides.

You never see evidence in the media of any other crimes why this one?

And if a criminal evades capture then the authorities go after them. I am sure it is the same in your country. There are no double standards here.

jns 28th March 2002 12:08

Well, but you just said it had been shown to all the other leaders in the world.
I think you just spoke against thyself.

Rovastar 28th March 2002 12:24

Not at all jns.

If the evidence is in the media then judges and juries see this side of the evidence beforehand and make there own prejudged conclusions.

Obviously the international community has to be consulted when issues go across borders.

All evidence in national domestic cases has to be viewed by some other people apart from the police. E.g. Police have to request warrants from judges and show them some indication that the person is responsible.

The similar authorities were shown in this case. The international leaders.

So jns what was your countries standpoint on this?
