I am a computer Bozo...please help.

I listen to internet radio and I was told I can download the audio feed programming and later copy to cd..."streamripping" is what it was referred to. What is this and how do I accomplish it?

Get a program called Total Recorder. If your sound card plays it, TR will record it.

Vica 28th March 2002 11:58

The program you are looking for is called Streamripper, it doesn't record the sound from your sound card so you can be blocked by some servers and be unable to record.

One good feature about it is that it recognizes the each song and separates songs while keeping id3 tags in tack...so check it out also....link

The third member of the triumvirate is a Winamp plug-in called 'SaveCast'

www.oddsock.org/tools/dsp_savecast/

Very easy to set up and use, but also very irritating, it can't keep track of it's window positions.

No luck so far. I cant access Winamp thru KPIG nor shoutcast. Real Player works but I guess streamripper isnt compatible..still cant load the streaamripper file either.

i think that total recorder is the best way to get trought.
it allows you to record a wav file of wichever lenght, an can also split it in piececs when volume level is low for a while.

all you have to do is bunrn the waves then

it can be downloaded as shareware here

Thanks for the link. While that seems to be rather easy to use and I don't mind the $11.95 - it has a limit of 40 seconds per recording...I'm interested in recording an hour at a time.

papadoc 28th March 2002 21:48

If you pay the $11.95 registration fee...
there is no limit to recording time.
The time limit is only for the free trial version.
Go here to their home page,
for FAQ's and download.

Thanks for the help folks. I used that last link and purchased the software. I hope the next Bozo that posts is an easy one for you too.

Glad to help Snatch Mahoney.

Now go here...
and download the Lame 3.91 DLL encoder,
listed under Lame Win32 DLL Versions.
Unzip and install it directly into the Total Recorder folder.
You can record and encode to MP3 on the fly,
at whatever bitrate you set, if you so desire.
Or you can use the CD Quality settings...44.1Hz 16bit Stereo,
while recording, for burning to CD.
