New clothes

Does buying new clothes for yourself make you happy? Something that you try on and say "I look good" ~ Does it put you in a happy mood?

I went to the store today (tax free day here in Georgia) and bought myself 2 new dresses.

It put me in such a happy mood. There is just something about a new dress that makes me happy. :D

Yeah! I always like to buy new clothes. I need to pick up some more cargos and hiking boots, Oh and few fleeces for backpacking. Thanks Missy now I'm getting excited.:D

You better believe it does! I love finding clothes that look good on me. Its such a rare thing...
Just recently I went power-shopping in Chicago. Spent $1,200 in just under 12 hours. That includes a $130 dinner at Nick's Fishmarket for Beau and myself, and buying him a new attache case for our anniversary. Lots of clothes from Structure, Bloomingdale's, and Marshall Field's. I almost went to Nieman Marcus, but they don't call that place "Needless Markup" for nothing!

I usually get some new clothes about once a year. It doesn't make me fell better. Basiclly, every monring, I think "hmmm... what's clean...", and rummage through my room to find pair of pants, and a t-shirt to put on. I don't care about the way it looks that much. But about once a year or so, I need to get new clothes.

Since ive lost 3 stone (22.5kg) all my clothes are to big! They flap around like a flag in the wind and im in need for new ones! It strange but wearing brand new clothes also boosts my confidence!

I dont think you are strange at all, that was my whole point to this thread. It just makes me happier and more confident. The older you get, the better it makes you feel also. I am no spring chicken anymore, so when I find something that I feel looks good on me, I get all excited.

Great dress :)

sscw46 29th March 2002 23:23

YES. I get very happy. New, good-looking clothes makes me feel good.

Shopping is great too. Even if it's shopping for someone else, I think it's very fun and I'm in a better mood.

Supposedly, the number one stress relievers for women is shopping and the second is redecorating.

Oddly enough, those seem to work for me too. Just slide one other thing in between the two ;)

Having a look at Missy's dress I have to say that i don't like the black! I used to be in a stage where i would wear alot of black but im kinda like out of that stage.

ps. Missy, your not old! Your 16 (apparently!)
;) 80 is my definition of old! (Sorry people out there over 80!!)

I like the black dress. Contrary to popular belief, pink is not my favorite color. :D

The odd time that I buy clothes, I feel happy when I find something I like and makes me look good.

I do not mind shopping for clothes, although i only ever go to the trade shops, the ones that have everything at 50% of the price or so. There are a couple in town that do some really neat stuff. I got my flaming shirt from there.

Shoe shopping plain sucks.

Pink suits you better! Its more femenin and shiny! Shiny = good! (Well for women anyway!) I prefer nice baggy jeans with a nice fleece! Its getting too hot here in England for fleeces now though! :)

ps. Missy, when are you ever on ICQ??

papadoc 30th March 2002 00:11

Buying new clothes for myself never really did anything for me.
I supposed cause it's been years since I've bought anything but
Harley t-shirts and jeans.
But it's hard to explain how happy I feel when I take a girl friend
out shopping and buy her new clothes.
Wathcing her try this and that on, kind of modeling, and
seeing the joy in her face when she finds that special outfit or whatever.
Priceless!!!

p.s. Missy...you are a living angel!!!

missyob 30th March 2002 00:18

Thanks pappy,

How was texas? I have been so terrible, I have not called. How did finals go? I was thinking of you earlier today.

I will call ya over the weekend :)

andrewsanders, I dont turn on icq much because of all of the random messages I get. I dont know how to do the filter thing and I end up getting like 50 random messages a day which drives me crazy!

~ Missy

apollos 30th March 2002 00:27

I use Trillian to use ICQ so im not too sure how you block people. If its anything like AOL or Yahoo then you should do this. When you recieve a "random messege" see if there is an ignore or block option by right clicking on the window where the messege is. Good luck!
Experimenting is the best way to learn! P.s. Very sweet children!
(That kinda sounds like im a child molester but let me re-assure you, im a 15 year old person and do NOT molest cildren!!)
:)

Oddly their the two largest causes of stress for the male kind.

Shopping for clothes for me is a relativley uneventful annual occurence. I walk into the nearest sears, by lots of golf shirts, kahkis and an ocasional pair of cargo style kahkis, walk over to the nearest cheap mens wear store (usually Old Navy around here), buy some sweaters for the cold days, and then go home, not my idea of fun, and it sure doesn't make me feel happy... "i just spent how much???? and i need to do it again how soon???"

But then again, i rarely had to shop for my own clothes untill recent. I had no sense of style, my girlfriend dressed me:).

But i second papa's feeling on shopping for your special someone, i hated shoping for my self (and still do), but shopping for her/with her was all different, it had a vaugley nice feel to it.

Huehuetenango 30th March 2002 02:23

i hate clothes shopping

a few months back a female friend of mine decided that in order to help me get a girlfriend she would make me fashionable
she dragged me to gap every other weekend for two months in the vain attempt to try and find something that she thought looked good on me
she finally did, but i'd "forgotten" my bank card that day

i never wear anything other than a plain tshirt (usually green or black) and khakhis, so it's not all that hard for me to get new clothes

[LMF]ZeroKool 30th March 2002 02:29

I don't need to buy them myself. My Aunt will do that for me. Don't look at me, but she always do that, she still does. Lucky me.....
