Ultra Overclock

hehe...heres my newest overclock and im quite proud...its with my xp 1700+ which before i could only get 1678 mhx out of it..well this time i got 1706 mhz..and that is insane for jsut air cooling..i even got the pics to prove it..

go to

http://perl.cx/~jeff/cpu.htm

binary hero 29th April 2002 09:38

*applause* well done.

will 29th April 2002 09:58

so from 1.466 to 1.706 thats an overclock of 116.58%

i recon i can beat that percantage with my athlon 1.33 (i.e. get it faster than 1.55GHz)

back in a few secs...

hmm. my box is now running stably at 1542MHz (thats an OC of 115.9%)

fwgx 29th April 2002 10:24

Mine's an 800 running at 952Mhz so that's 119% :p

here we go. 1567Mhz thats 117%
temp is 33degC.

I think that the key phrase here is "The pc ran stable for about 15 minutes..."

well im upping the ram voltage and other things... i should have it stable to crank out some benchmarks tonight...

i emailed it to hardocp, and all they said was

"hehe, aint stability a bitch..."

i guess im not [h]ard enough to get on there site..

Atmo 29th April 2002 20:03

My athlon 1400 runs stable at 1600...Been there for 2 months, never change the settings any more...

Why not get out the super glue and circuit repair pens and unlock the cpu nofx?? I see you're running your fsb at 155 which would stress ddr266 ram a fair bit...Or have you lowered cas latency??

I used to run a 150mhz fsb with cas 2.5 latency (even kingmax ram has it's limits) till a real thorough benchmark session showed that the system was faster overall at 133mhz fsb with cas 2 latency...Stock speed and it was actually faster like that.

I doubt you'd see any difference between 1678 and 1706, but bigger numbers are cool...

Nofx Guy 29th April 2002 20:23

i was thinking about unlocking my cpu..i have the shit to do it at work...perhaps i will..

i have cas 2 ram...but its still stressing it i bet..thats why im gettina stick of 512 cas 2 pc2700 .... w00t! hehe

i checked overclockers.com cpu database and there showing guys who have xp 1700+ 's oc'd to 2600 mhz...thats insane..i dont even think that possible..considering the highest oc on xp 2100's listed on the site is only 2200mhz...

Atmo 29th April 2002 20:32

:weird:

Dunno if it'd be possible to get to 2600mhz...tho i've heard of some P4's overclocked to over 3ghz...

Serious refrigerated cooling needed tho...

LawnGnome2005 29th April 2002 21:52

At those kind of speeds, they are probably using liquid cooling. That stuff is cheap to buy now you know.

I also found this...

dylman 29th April 2002 22:12

P4 running at 3.1 GHz

12499 points in 3DMark2001SE...

Bilbo Baggins 29th April 2002 22:39

A question:

WHY???

dylman 29th April 2002 22:43

Lock two men in a room with no women and they will compete over who has the best ballpoint pen. :)

Mizter_E 29th April 2002 22:44

it is sort of a pissing contest, if you will.

That's what I was trying to say. :D

Atmo 29th April 2002 22:49

Cos it's important to get that extra 10 3Dmarks, that extra 1% on that benchmark, to make your pc I3373r than it should be.....All valid reasons to overclock..
:p

fwgx 29th April 2002 22:49

It's cheaper.

LawnGnome2005 29th April 2002 22:50

I thought this was kinda funny. Click Here!

The CPUs and motherboards aren't capable of running that speed.

Bilbo, why ever upgrade? Why not keep using the same 200Mhz PII MMX? Speed, my friend. The speed makes all the difference. I could care less about artificial benchmarks, but I would care if I could shave a few seconds off Windows startup time and make it possible to open a few more apps at once.
