How to get WinTV remote working with Winamp?
 

Does anybody know how I can get the Hauppauge WinTV remote to work with Winamp. I've tried an IR.zip that I located via this forum but that's in german and doesn't seem to work in XP.

Download uICE http://www.mediatexx.com/ It's easy to use but costs money, only US$20 though. It even has a special plugin available just for Winamp.

From my little bit of playing it works very well as it's got built in support for the WinTV remote. The thing that I really need it to do is to work with WinTV and Winamp at the SAME time so that the buttons will change use depending on what application is running. I don't know if it can do that yet but I'll let you know. (Unless you know the answer already!)

To answer my own question... YES!

It can get pretty complex, I didn't realise it was as powerful as that. You can control pretty much anything on you PC, it's got built in commands for WinDVD, PowerDVD, The Playa, WMP7/8 etc. It even has a timer built in that can shutdown/standby/hibernate the PC. All with a customisable OSD.

Hi, I haven't used it for a long while so can't quite remember. This was with Winamp2 so I don't know how it will work with Winamp3. You will have to download the uICE program and read through help. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

its only a replacement for the hauppauge IR ini file and emulates the keyboard commands for winamp... i use it and its definitely great!
