musicmatch
Hi...I recently downloaded Winamp, because we have Musicmatch on our computer, and I dont like using it. Well, I guess when I did this, it screwed everything up on Musicmatch...the hubby is really pissed at me now because it converted all of his files on Musicmatch to Winamp files. Is there a way that I can use my Winamp and he can use his Musicmatch without us annoying one another?

MMJB is a nightmare. Maybe you can convince your hubby to switch to Winamp?
Basically, what you're saying is that you didn't uncheck the options during setup to "associate with files" and "associate with AudioCD" so now Winamp is the default player for MP3, WAV, MIDI, CDA, etc etc. This doesn't prevent other players from playing the same files, all it means is that files of these types will open in Winamp when they're double-clicked in Explorer, or opened via a url in InternetExplorer. To undo all this: Winamp -> Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Setup Agent -> Uncheck all 3 options Filetypes -> click "select none" Uncheck "associate with audio cd" Close Prefs & close Winamp Now, in MMJB, locate the prefs and reassociate your file extensions (surely MMJB has such an option, yes?) Once (and very sadly) MMJB is the default player again (booh), the only way to play music in Winamp will be via the Winamp interface. Playlist -> Add button -> Dir / File(s) |
thank you
gosh i wish i could convince him to just use winamp, but hes convinced the mmjb is a gift from God or something. He acted like it was the end of the world or something lol....thank you soo much for your help..I can live if winamp isnt the default player, just as long as i can use it.

What we could really do with is a TSGH topic something along the lines of "why Winamp+CDex/EAC is preferable to MMJB/Windows Media Player" ;)
