Glasses, Lenses or none of them

The title says it all : post whether you wear glasses, lenses, or none of them. If you wear glasses or lenses, specify your eyesight problem.

I start : glasses, myopic and astigmatic.

Up to you now:)

griffinn 15th May 2002 10:29

Glasses - myopic.

Xerxes 15th May 2002 10:30

I am quite nearsighted; unless I have my glasses on I cant see 5 feet ahead of me clearly. The world is quite anti aliased, so to speak in photoshop terms ;)

I wear glasses in class and the car.

Mr Jones 15th May 2002 10:30

None, perfect vision, which is amazing really when you consider... :D

kljs 15th May 2002 10:31

Glasses,short sighted(200+ on right, 300+ on left)

pAk 15th May 2002 10:32

Glasses - myopic and astigmatism...

these are slightly out of date, but...
code:

Right: Left
sph 6.5 4.0
cyl .75 .75
axis 55 95

Curi0us_George 15th May 2002 10:41

Contacts - Very minor astigmatism, myopia

+4.0, both eyes (glasses slightly stronger)

My prescription actually went down the "time before the last time" I went to the Optometrist, from 4.5 to 4.0. The last time, it didn't change at all.

Sorry, I don't know the über-detailed info like pAk. :)

Quite amazing what we consider "perfect vision" in humans, isn't it. :/

"I can almost read that billboard way out there."
"Yeah, that eagle can see the locust setting on top of the billboard."

zootm 15th May 2002 10:49

i wear glasses (thinking about getting contacts)

i'm extremely short-sighted in one eye, and "quite" short-sighted in the other (that means i can't see things far away, or indeed about 2m away in one eye- i think you people might use different words)

it's fun to get people to wear my glasses though... the prescriptions are so different most ppl just can't focus on anything...

I just know it cos I have an exam tomorrow on the eye, all about this stuff and methods of correcting it

Curi0us_George 15th May 2002 11:30

Well, I keep up with my prescription, which is more than most people do. I just don't know the base curve ad whatnot. :)

Are you studying medicine (possibly optometry) in college or something?

pAk 15th May 2002 11:34

I do medical engineering

Curi0us_George 15th May 2002 11:42

Professionally?
That could be interesting.

And you have an exam?
Do tell. :)

Hunter 15th May 2002 11:54

Near sited, glasses for videogames and tv...:)

ElChevelle 15th May 2002 11:57

Contacts - nearsighted
Also have X-ray glasses for public viewing of ladies' lingerie;)

pAk 15th May 2002 12:02

I still a student at the moment, just about to go into 4th year for my MEng. I hope to go into the field, but I have no idea what to do, I want to work for a large company, but most of the interesting ones are small and don't pay too well. You can end up doing all kinds of things, from prosthesis, implants, imaging which is quite common, to the menial stuff like designing surgical equipment and fixing hospital equipment, to the completely futuristic like cyborgs.

The exam I have tomorrow is how to apply engineering techniques to medical applications, there are a number of areas:

the eye - where we look at interoccular lenses, contact lenses, laser surgery, glasses.
the heart - pacemakers, artificial valves and full replacement
The ear - cochlea implants, hearing aids gromets

and for the immature amoung you...

plastic surgery - breast implants, nose jobs, skin grafts and general reconstructive surgery

Rocker 15th May 2002 12:34

/me has no glasses.......

Magic_Midget 15th May 2002 12:50

Glasses - nearsighted

fwgx 15th May 2002 14:16

Glasses - Nearsighted but also need them for reading and they aren't bi-focal :weird:

rm' 15th May 2002 15:38

Myopic vision, +4.0 on both eyes :(

I use these nifty, and uberclassy nosepadless metal designer frames for daily use, and all black prescription sunglasses for outdoors.

DJ Shredder 15th May 2002 15:49

I'm pretty damn blind, with my glasses off, my monitor is just a blob, and it's at exactly arm length, so you do the math :(

I wear glasses all the time, and I have since Grade 5 (I will be starting my second year of College this coming fall, so it's been too long)

glasses, nearsighted, but I can read a book without glasses. I hate the people who think that when you take your galsses off you are completly blind. once I was in a snowball fight, my glasses were knocked off, and some kid from down the street decides that while Everybody is looking for my glasses it would be a great time to hit me with a snowball, since he thought I wouldn't be able to see who threw it. he throws it and hits me in the leg. he is laughing too hard to notice me making a snow ball. I hit him right in the kisser and knocked him over. that's when he finally figured out that I could see with my glasses off.

Vie 15th May 2002 18:37

Tinted Glasses, Shortsighted+UV sensative, can read this page without my glasses from .... 10cm's away

eleet-2k2 15th May 2002 19:07

None, but I do have a slight astigmatism.

dylman 15th May 2002 20:55

Shortsighted, monthly disposable soft contact lenses, at least a month overdue for an eyetest, I'd better ring them tomorrow...

PyroTek66 15th May 2002 20:58

Nothing here, and I hope I don't have to for a long time.

will 15th May 2002 21:02

eleet-2k2 15th May 2002 23:04

Tthats not so bad willfisher.

Huehuetenango 15th May 2002 23:14

no glasses, only one in my family w/out them
though lately i've found that my right eye is a bit blurry when only it is open
should go get my eyes checked out

n_ick2000 15th May 2002 23:14

Lenses. I am Farsighted and have a stigmatism (I know I spelled that one wrong). I have been lazy though and haven't worn my contacts for a couple of weeks.

sscw46 15th May 2002 23:26

Gas permeable contact lenses, near-sighted.

John M 15th May 2002 23:40

i wear glasses for nearsidedness and astigmatism

Atmo 15th May 2002 23:54

Dont wear glasses, but i see halos around lights at night so i should probably get my eyes checked.

Lain 15th May 2002 23:54

I wear glasses sometimes, for nearsightedness and astigmatism, it depends on what I'm doing. I usualy just wear them when I'm driving. My eysights about 20/80 i think. I tried contact lenses, but they didn't do well with me.

fish 16th May 2002 00:49

I wear glasses during classes and when watching TV. Quasi-nearsighted.

<edit>Glasses during classes- I'm a poet and I didnt know it! :p

I didn't know that was wrong. I've always seen the halos, even when my eyes didn't suck. I still see them with my contacts in, too.

pAk, cool. :D
