I don't know if this is the best place to put this (if not just move it thx) anyways, I downloaded the winamp skin Silverillusion http://winamp.deskmod.com/core.mod?s...n&skin_id=4927 and I can't get it to work. im running bulid #466 and when I click on the silverillusion skin the the skin switcher nothing comes up and when I click Switch! it says "This skin is not compatable with Winamp3"
Iwas just wondering WTF was wrong

P.S. I like when you click on the Delete button, and it asks you if you really want to delete the skin and you click yes, it says "To bad that function hasn't been implemented yet". hehe haha

this probably would have best placed in the skins/scripting forum, but what-the-hay.

That version of the skin probably isn't compatable with that release of WA3. Try back tracking on the previous builds of WA3 if you want or you cant e-mail the creator, and try to get him to update it.

about the placement of the thread, I chose here because most of the people in the skins forum were asking for help making skins and not reporting bugs in skinsso I guesstimated at where i should place this thread and my phone operator told me here <click>

that skin IS compatable with beta 3(well it should be according to the published date)

sometimes you have to delete studio.xnf before the skin will load

what is studio.xnf for
(want to know what I'm deleting so I don't get rid of anything I might want l8er)

it stores settings and such for winamp3. Open it in a text editor and look around.

I hope you got your problem solved. I would be updating Silver Illusion as Winamp3 evoles, the skin is not really mine although I did a lot of stuff on it. I'm seeing that people are still using it so maybe there will be a complete redo in the future will "ALL" new and better looking graphics. The only thing that will stay the same is the color theme......*this is a big MAYBE*

I've had this kind of problem b4.
I personally haven't tried the skin you're trying to use, so i dont know if it comes as a .wal file, or with an installer.
If it comes in a wal file, i find that in beta3, the skin.xml file needs to be in the toplevel directory of the archive (wal files are simply renamed zip files).
If it comes with an installer, i guess it wouldnt be a problem.
However, when you installed the skin, if it comes with an installer, you might have tried to install it in a subfolder of Winamp3\Skins. As far as i know that wont work.
I extract most skins i download to folders, and when winamp3 sees a subfolder, i think it expects to see a skin.xml file, not a .wal or .zip.

thats the thing I dont generally use deskmod Ive been there a couple of times and I couldn't sort it out. as for the skin switcher. nothing comes up in there and ive downloaded the skin two times and ive downloaded WA3 several times in hopes of getting a plug in to work and that doesn't work either. I'm not bashing WinAmp3 I know its a beta but it is still frustrating. its kinda like having a toddler you know that he can't help himself but some times you just want to haul off and smack the kid (although that is terribly wrong)
so I still stick to my WA2 and I use WA3 for when my gf comes over so she can smack me when I can't get it to work right. [HEY HONEY, check this out {insert something I've havn't tested with WA3} ohhh wow {insert computer crash here then the smack on the back of my head here)]
