Uncopyrighted music

where can i find uncopyrighted music to burn? or am i just dreaming?

Cleanup 22nd May 2002 20:40

Yep. You're dreaming. All commercial music is probably copyrighted. But people burn it anyways, only for personal use, though.

Griz 22nd May 2002 20:43

that's all i want it for, is for personal use. i have to drive 200 miles just to groc shop and i travel a lot and can't afford to buy cds. i have plenty of tapes but need new music. but everything i choose cannot be burned. then that must change the question to: how to burn copyrighted music?

Cleanup 22nd May 2002 20:48

Technically, it's illegal to burn it, reproduce it, or even download it. But people still do it. Ask anyone.

My guess is you're trying to write copyrighted WMA files to a CD. Before you can do this, you have to remove the protection from the WMA with a program called 'unfuck'.

However, WMA is a crap audio format. You are better off with mp3. You can download mp3s using filesharing utilities(look for one at shareware sites such as http://www.download.com/).

Then, convert these mp3 files to .WAV with CDex. Then, burn to CD using Nero, or a similar burning program.

Answers to this question, and many others, can be found here.

heck id say get Morphious or kaaza and just connect, then search, download, then load them into winamp...:igor:

Cleanup 22nd May 2002 20:56

He said he travels a lot. Not like he can bring Winamp with him. He needs the music in CDs.

Ugh... WMA... my uncle installed Plus! for XP without asking me... it converted all my mp3 to WMA...
I haven't finished extracting all my CDs to mp3 again... and this was over 3 months ago. (well, maybe we should consider that I'm too lazy to rip more than 1 CD a day... :p )

Yuk! Evil... This is exactly why I'm the only one with admin rights on my machine. I've left the guest account on so my family can play Solitaire (and that's about it ;)).

God Bless XP Pro.

download kazaa and there are many MANY bands that would love for you to listen to their music. Its any starting bands dream to hear their songs play in a passing car.

Yeah, I'm the only one with admin privs now... a little late, but at least that won't happen again...

Re: Uncopyrighted music

if it's just for personal use, i'd guess it'd be okay... I burn CDs for myself 'cause i'd have to pay $50+ to get the actual CD (they're mostly game OSTs & JPop/JRock CDs).
