Playback stuttering :(
 

Hi,

I don't know if this is a winamp problem but maybe someone can help:

Issue: When Hard disk has activity during playback, shoutcast and MP3's will judder / skip.

Now say I open an app (during playback) then no jumping so it looks like a cache access problem.

Hardware: AbitKT7, Athlon 1.3 (200 FSB), 768 Mb PC133, Sonic Fury sound card (MP3 acceleration enabled). Maxtor DiamondMax D740X H/D, 1Mb Cable Modem.

My hardware should eat MP3s for fun :(

Please help!

WinXP Pro all drivers upto date

(i take it your using winamp3)
try the official winamp3 beta3 update

it has fixes for many plug-in related bugs

also you should switch to directsound...
because windows XP's wavout capability is fucked

preferences (ctrl+p)-->options-->check 'directsound output'

directsound has its own built in crossfader (so its best to leave the winamp3 crossfader off)

Geez.. just d/l Linux Alpha of winamp 3..... (running Redhat 7,3) cant get shoutcasts to work (yet) but as far as i can tell with MP3's no stuttering!!! :) XP PO sucks :( Damn.

Just installed Win98SE no problems with stuttering yet.... XP as Multimedia platform... my ass! :p
